My Second Ever Big B Ball: C-System 3.5
« on: August 03, 2010, 11:10:16 PM »
So...I got a new ball

My second venture into the Big B universe is the C-System 3.5.  The goal of this ball is to replace/complement my ever beloved Storm Gravity Shift.  The Gravity Shift is still a carry machine, but the ability to handle heavier oil has slowly faded, and it's a truly medium ball for me now.  So, looking for that smooth and very continuous look on heavier oil, I got the 3.5 and replicated the drilling of the Gravity Shift: 3 11/16 pin to PAP, ~4 inches MB to PAP(my axis is 4 3/16 over, 3/8 up)(these numbers are goofy as he11, I know).  This puts the pin almost directly in between my ring finger and my grip center, and the MB on my VAL.

Why I wanted this ball?  After watching some videos of it, I saw something I've only seen in a handful of balls:  an asymmetric ball that never overreacts and never quits in the backend (did I just say that about a Brunswick ball ) These are qualities I absolutely adore in the Gravity Shift.

I kept the ball at OOB finish and my ball driller gave it some light polish using Ebonite Factory Finish.  The first, and so far only time I threw the ball was on a Chameleon pattern in PBAx league.  I was able to play the ditch for the first game really well.  Second game, lanes break down so I tried to move 6/3 inside and it was too over/under.  So I took my Gravity Shift back up the ditch, and back to wackin' em.  Game 3, that line starts to fade so I took the 3.5 and back to 6/3 inside, and it was able to read the lane easier and be much more predictable.  During this game the lanes are really wearing down so I ended up somewhere around throwing over 20, looking at 12 at the arrows and the ball was turning the corner nicely.  The forth game, the 3.5 was too much and reading too early, so I just switched to the Gravity and stayed where I was for another solid 190 game.

Overall, I love how the 3.5 reads early, has strong and continuous motion in the back and is so so so continuous through the pins, AND it never overreacts.  The drilling gives me some of the best reaction and carry ever, and I have no idea why.  But the 3.5 gives me a great complement to the Gravity Shift, and it can handle more oil.

Hopefully the ball won't be too much for a THS...but the Chameleon we were on seemed to have a ton of hook.  Guys with more hand were swinging the lane with Game Plans and Reigns, lol.  But once I do shoot on THS, I'll be sure to update the review.  Big B may have found a new customer in me with how much I love this release already.
