I'm having similar issues with my total as legend4life95 talked about in his post
http://www.ballreviews.com/Forum/Replies.asp?TopicID=146334&ForumID=2&CategoryID=2 It flares several inches so that is not a problem. However, it doesn't do much of anything on the back end. The specs are as follows:
Pin to PAP = 4.25 in.
CG to PAP = 4.5 in.
Pin to Mid Line = 3.75 in.
Starting Top Wt. = 2.4 oz.
Pin out = approx. 4 in.
PAP = 5 3/16 over and 1 in. up
Bowler = medium revs and medium speed

http://new.photos.yahoo.com/ckfrye300/photo/294928803988096291/1I drilled this ball with the same layout as my Lane #1 Cherry Bomb expecting it to give me a similar look on slightly heavier or longer patterns. But the Total has very little movement.
I have thrown a Legend's New Standard (drilled the same day as the Total) and Storm Ragin Banshee on the same conditions and both balls gave me much more on the back end. The New Standard is a solid particle and the Ragin Banshee is a Pearl Particle. The New Standard has the pin 3.75 from PAP at 75 degrees. The Ragin Banshee has the pin at 2 in. from PAP. With those covers (both at box surface) and layouts I was getting good reactions so I don't think the Total is burning up too soon.
I have tried the Total at box surface (which I'm not sure if it was actually rough buff as it seemed much shinier), 1000 abralon, and wet sanded to 360 with Ultimate XXX on top of the 360. So far the 1000 abralon surface seemed best but still not what I was expecting out of the ball. The look with all three surfaces was not that much different. I do have to admit that since it has only been one week since I drilled the ball, I have not had the opportunity to dry different surfaces on one lane condition. Each surface prep was at a different bowling center.
The first center (box surface) has a house shot that is dry out and usually wet in the center but it was drier that night. The 1000 abralon surface was in a center where we use slight variations of the PBA regional patterns. We were on a 40 foot shot (close to pattern #1 I believe). The 360 with XXX was on a generally high scoring THS.
I'm open to any suggestions for surface prep or the addition of an extra hole. I don't remember the ending static weights. It has a little finger and side but not a ton.
Thanks for your help!
