I witnessed history last night

While I was bowling league at AMF Sheridan Lanes in Tulsa, OK, another guy by the name of Thomas Patterson, a few lanes down from me on another league, made history.

300-299-279 - 878

He broke the Tulsa, OK city record by one pin. I don't think he's a Brunswick staffer, but he's a supporter by throwing the Big B and wearing the swag. I'm sure he'll be on the Brunswick website's highlight reel in a few days, so be looking for it.

Thomas is the son of local bowling legend Tracy Patterson. Tracy has been in the bowling community for years in the Tulsa area and his achievements in bowling and service have earned him entry into the Oklahoma and Tulsa Bowling Halls of Fame.

Congrats, Thomas! You've set a new plateau! 34 out of 36 strikes is not bad at all!

WOW!  There have been a lot of high scores lately.  About 2 weeks ago I watched a guy in league shoot 300-278-299 = 877.  He did beat the house high or state high.  House is 879 and NJ state is 899 (Tom Jordan)

Someone just shot 899 the other day in Michigan too...I think it was at Colonial if I remember right. Left an 8-pin first game.

Thanks for the info, Six. I was wondering about the state record. I'm sure there will be an article in the local papers (Tulsa World & the Oklahoman)

I know the feeling. The Tulsa World is the same way. They used to post the weekly scores on a regular basis. Now you have to check it every day just to see if a little blip is there. I hear the lead editor thinks bowling isn't a sport, therefore not much is posted at all. That's the damn biased media for you. No wonder newspapers are slowly going to the way side and succumbing to the internet revolution.

I'm tired of that crap. So tired, in fact, that I'm thinking of creating my own website dedicated to weekly bowling scores and highlights in the area. So far those who I've told about my idea think it's a good one, even more so a much needed one. So I'm gonna start talking to the local centers soon to see if they'd be willing to participate in sending me the scores. If I get enough interest, I'm going to put up my own money to create the site. Hopefully if things go well, I might get enough interests in some sponsored ads which will pay for the site itself. I'm not looking to make any money. Just more of a labor of love.

I don't know if a similar website would be a good idea in your area. Perhaps we can bounce some ideas off each other. Send me a PM if you're interested. Thanks again for the info.

I watched a guy named David Kock from Marshall, MN shoot 300-279-268 in the singles event in a tournament in Sioux Falls, SD on Sunday.  He walked every shot to the pocket and was just unfortunate to leave a single pin in game two and 2 single pins in game three.  He very easily could have shot 900.  

I think he wrapped up the singles title with that set!

We had a couple good one out here in Idaho.  I live in Boise and a guy by the name of Jamie Flynn went 300-300-279 for 879.  Plus about 3 years back a real good friend of mine named Aaron Colson went 289-289-289 687.  He was in junior when that happened though lol

A few weeks ago my teammate 299 300 290 889 and tied the city record and our team broke the five man city record that night with 3853 it was 17 pins short of being in the top five in the nation and we had a guy shoot 649.

Just had Mike Lemon, here in Dolton , IL shoot 300-300-277 - 877.  No telling how many times he's done that!  Good shooting!!!
