What's with all the pearl releases lately?
« on: November 25, 2004, 01:37:48 PM »
I have noticed that everything new lately from the big B is pearl(besides the impulse but that is particle).

Don't get me wrong I have a ton of pearl balls and like them, it's just I have been waiting for some solid resin stuff.  I would have loved for the Punisher to have been solid.  Especially with the new N'Control coverstock.  If it were solid I could see myself getting several because of the versatility of all the N'Control stuff before.  I had six command arc zones because they were so easy to read and gave me control on parts of the lane where anything else was to erratic.  I also loved the Frenzy that used the N'Control cover and was one of my favorite pearls ever.  Again I could pull the frenzy out and have a great look from somewhere that anything else wouldn't have a chance of hitting the pocket.

Again don't get me wrong.  I have been nothing but pleased with all the new Brunswick stuff out lately.  I just would prefer to see the pearl to solid ratio a little closer lately.

You forgot the Classic Zone.  I was really referring to the newest releases.  3 out of the last 4 balls are pearl and the one that is solid is a particle.

if we wanna get picky I can throw in three more pearls.  The new grooves, but that isn't what I was getting at.  Again I really wasn't counting the particles.

Ok I no what was released.  I again am excluding the particle stuff that is new(I think of particle as something totally different than a solid resin).

So with that said we have

Recent Pearls-Intense, Punisher, Classic Zone
Recent Solid- Nemesis
Particle Solids(I wasn't counting)-Impulse Zone, Goliath

well, going on a time frame isn't very accurate.

But looking at their lineup (excluding particle and grooves) you have pearls out edging solids by two or three. Not too unbalanced.

The solid i wanna see is a solid activator on the impulse zone core.

Also some would say that with the activator cover, the solid/pearl thing doesn't matter as the activator is so versatile.

Like I said before I like pearl stuff.  It just seemed to me I was seeing a lot of pearl stuff lately.  I can remember when solids out numbered pearls by a big ratio.

I was really just making an observation.

Although I would be really excited to see a new solid with the N'Control cover like I stated before.

Same here, I'm in love with my command zone arc (times 2) and wish they would come out with something similar again!

Wrongway,

Why not express that interest, a solid N'control, to Brunswick themselves? They are, afater all, the ones to implement requested designs. In fact, if you look in the Lane#1 forum, under one of the "Dirty Bomb solid" topic, you will see that someone also would like a Lane#1 N'Control solid.

But, bottom line is we can't do athing about it, but Brunswick can.

While most everyone should find a solid they can use out B'wick's current line-up: Power Groove Teal/Purple, Bruiser, Nemesis, Ultimate Inferno, an N'Control solid with say, the Brusier's QUantum core would be very interesting. Myself, I'd like to see the PK 17 solid resin cover around a Nemesis or the Bruiser core.

Hey guys, most of us here at Brunswick do read a lot of this stuff and log some of the ideas into the memory banks. The first thing we do when designing a new release is find a spot on our chart where we are lacking a ball. We don't just randomly come out with something, it has to have a purpose. One of the reasons for the pearls is that we're putting them on strong cores. We can create that clean throught the front, great mid-lane look, and continous back end reaction with many of our cover/core combinations. I believe our Activator pearls react more in oil than most others, so this may be misleading to some when they think pearl = skid. We use pearl to help keep it clean in the early part of the lane, not necessarily "skid". And always remember, there are different amounts of pearl put into different balls, thus each pearl ball has a different "feel" on the lane. All "B" balls considered, I think we have created a great arsenal from top to bottom. I feel we can match up any bowler to any condition.

Thanks for the reply and input Robert.  I totally agree that you and everyone at Brunswick have put out an incredibly well balanced arsenal.  I again just wanted to say I wasn't complaining.  I love all the Brunswick stuff I've drilled lately.  Especially the pearls, they in my opinion are the most versatile and improved pearl equipment out there today.  It use to be that I only had and used pearl stuff for times that I needed something to get through the heads, but with this the older pearls made an inconsistent and later move than I typically like to see.  This isn't the case with the new pearls from Brunswick.  They clear the heads great and have a very readable and controlled move to the pocket.  With these great new pearls I can use them on pretty much anything from fresh to burnt.

Oh yeah and if it does help like charlest said.  I'd love to see a solid with the N'Control solid cover.  I doubt it will come with an inferno core, but it would be great with the classic zone core or even the bruiser core.  For that matter I think it would be great on almost any of the recent releases.

If we are asking for the a dream ball then.  I'd have to say a speed zone core with the N'Control cover, but that might not be for everyone.  I'd buy a ton of them myself though.

bowl200,

I am still in Austin. I work for Brunswick (obviously), but still hang out at the shop at Showplace when I'm in town. I'd be more than glad to offer up some advice on an arsenal.

N'Control Solid idea has been noted and will be brought up to the R & D guys to see what they think.
