Impulse Zone
« on: May 04, 2005, 03:38:27 PM »
Won an Brunswick Impulse Zone from a give away we had in town. I'm just wondering about layouts and stuff, what do all you people think? I've read only a couple of the reviews and seen they had "Pin below the ring finger" with the Bias kicked out...Is there anybody else out there with a different layout?

Also, has anybody had to scuff the ball, or polish the ball? If so, what kind of reaction did you guys get with it? Would like to know before punching this ball up! Thanks

Box condition.

5x4, pin @ 1:30, PSA 60 degrees, no fourth hole.

Clean through the fronts, nice mid-lane read, smooth reaction through the buff and a strong arcing backend.

Thanks dude,

I have recorded it in my journal of notes. Does anybody have an Impulse Zone? Scuffed? Polished? I'm looking for all types of layouts and reactions. Thanks for any help you can provide

Pin below ring finger ( above midline ), psa @ 90 degrees ( on midline below val ), weighthole in the finger positive quadrant and polished with finesse it.

This ball is incredibly smooth.  It rolls good enough to carry well if I pull it into the oil a bit, and also never jumps off the dry if it leaks out a bit, just gives me a true, consistent roll and good carry.

I have shot two sets with it and they have both been over 700. If I had it to do over again, I would!

In box condition, it is an oil ball. Smooth and predictable. Handles carry down as long as you have enough heads to let it clear the first part of the lane.

For me, it ýs an excellent step down from box Ultimate. If your dull Ultimate checks up too early and loose energy, Impulse is your second choice.

With the same drillings both on Absolute and Impulse, Impulse is still touch earlier. It reads the midlane better and needs more head oil.. Absolute is touch longer and has more continues backend. Not enough difference for my taste to keep both in the bag. Lower and stronger pin placement makes Absolute too condition specific for me.. I have Impulse and Ultimate for oil

My Impulse is drilled 3-1/2 X MB Strong, Weight Hole off the PAP, box condition
I have one Absolute drilled box, 4-1/2 X 4, no hole. With this set up, my Absolute is about 2 feet longer and a lot sharper. Handles same amount of oil with a different shape.

In my opinion, Impulse is a great choice for heavier sports conditions. Predictable and hard arc to the pocket. Generally it is best for straighter angles rather than opening up the lane. Responds up-the-back release very good.
I would stay away pin below drillings if you do not have enough hand or speed unless you play on flood..

Hope this helps,
Burak

Well guys,

I just want to thank all of you for putting your opinions on here, it has helped me a great bit...after showing every post to my pro shop guy, we decided on keeping it out of the box and drilling it, "Pin below the ring finger" and no weight hole needed. BrunSlinger hit it on the dot, this ball is incredibly smooth and that it never jumps off the dry if it leaks out a bit.

Only rolled it two games and put together 234 and a 300!!! Thanks again for your help and God Bless You!
