I am looking for a dry lane ball and where I can actually get straight and roll it up the boards however my issue is I have little ball speed and decent hand so everything is strong for me. I use a gravity shift as my heavy oil ball with my purple rhino pro just below that and a dull faball nail(polish knocked off) as a medium/medium lite and spare ball. I was looking at the power groove dry/r or avalanche pearl or possibly something from another company and was wondering would I be able to get any of these weak enough for my needs. For example the nail is drilled with the symbol in grip center and I can play this on a medium shot with 10 out wall from 25 to 7 and recover.

I should of been more clear I am looking for a dry lane ball not burnt which is why I was asking about something like a dry/r I want a core and a nice looking reaction.

Either the Avalanche Slide or Avalanche Pearl might be your ticket.

now with the avalanches do you think I could really drill them weak enough to say play the same amount or less hook then buddies video on videoballreviews? That is more or less what Im looking for. Face it when you are covering 30+ boards it gets a bit annoying it seems to me this is the biggest issue I see especially when people are throwing different lines I start to cross all the wet/dry areas and the reaction can get a bit all over the place.

I say go with the Avalanche Slide. I just bought one two months ago for my dry lanes ball. The funny thing is I own a Hammer Nail too.(not too many of those still around, I keep mine polished)

As for layout, I went the old brunswick 4L dry lanes layout:

I had trouble finding a Slide with a pin longer then 3"'s, my driller was still able to make it work I just ended up with a little finger weight, which is actually pretty good cause it helps to give it a nice snap on the backend.

It works great for me, I use it to play straight up the boards (between 3-5).

My Slide goes quite long, and it's drilled strong. With a weaker layout and some adjustments by the bowler you should be fine.

If you dont mind me asking what sort of ball speed do you have scratch I ask cause I have a pretty "normal" rev rate but my speed is quite slow(probably only 14 or so).

I have been using the Dry R as my 10 pin ball and for my dry dry lane ball for a couple of years now and it works great and doesn't cost very much. It is easy to flatten enough for 10 pins and with a little hand adjustment it will hook some if needed.

I'm going to give you a really cheap option that you might want to look into.

Purple Rhino Pro Remake.

I got mine for less than $50 on eBay. With drilling it ran me about $85.

King- My son plays for his high school and his home lanes can be very dry at times. He uses the Lane Masters Hornet. It has a good sized core for backend continuation, but the coverstock is very hard and won't bite much unless you scuff it up.

For really dry, this would be an excellent choice.

For me, my dry lane ball has become my smash zone, it gets down the lane very easily but then does react very strong once down the lane. I do throw the ball relatively fast(17-ish)though so some may disagree with me.
