Is the Fury still in the Brunswick ball lineup?

I looked on Brunswick's website to see that the Fury was not there, and a great surprise. One of my most favorite balls ever was put back up there: the Ultimate Inferno. Is the Ultimate supposed to take the Fury's spot for heavier oil? If so, I'm buying myself an Ultimate Inferno a.s.a.p. When will the Ultimates be released for the public?

Fury's have been discontinued. The UI should be at the distributors soon if not already.

Wonder why they droped the Fury and brought back the old UI ?

I thought the Fury was the next best thing since sliced bread ?


Maybe a Lane #1 lawsuit ?....J/P

All I know is, I'll be getting an Ultimate as soon as I can. Great ball. The Fury sucked for me.

Yeah. I wonder what the deal is. Was it just a very poor cover/core combo?    I like my Fury, but with it at 5.5" pin to pap and rough buffed (like typically recommended) it isnt a heavy oil ball for me at all.

Well according to their sales reps,  back in Oct. of 07.  They said that their Dist. said, that the  Fury had "slowed down in sales to a crawl"  And that was the reason for the sudden closeout right before the busy Christmas selling season.  And 7 months later, there is still no new replacement ball for the Fury.  Yes the Ultimate is coming out,  But I heard it will be limited!!!

Now I believe the real truth is that certain Dist,  known to sell to online dealers, over bought the Fury's, and were stuck with them.  And they cried to big b, and since Big B needs to get paid,  they buckled and reduced the Fury to help certain Dist.

"of course there is no evidence of this assertion, but that does not make the assertion untrue"

And that may explain the question,  why is there not a new replacement ball for the Fury, 7 months after the famous closeout!!!!  That cost me millions???
Even tho I was sold out of Fury's at the time!!!!

Just in case you wanted to know.

Maybe if it's a 'medium heavy and above' condition where balls can hook at 25 feet , it could be considered a monster. But for true heavier oil, the Fury missed the mark -- regardless of a weak or strong layout.

The Fury is not close to being in the same category as the Resurgence, Cell or BuzzBomb for heavier oil. If you can find the right cover prep for your release/style, it's a decent medium condition ball. The sweet spot on mine has been 1000 grit Abralon without polish. It's my primary practice ball, and I just shot two 300's with it in the span of a week. But I would never trust it in a league/tournament environment. Too much oil and it skids, and at the same time, too much bounce off the dry.

That's the way the overall market saw it too; the Fury is now a footnote in the history books.

I took Inverted 1's advice and drilled a new one yesterday crazy strong just to see how it would react.  

Pin low, 3.5" pin to pap, hole below the pap just off the VAL, 800 grit surface... you'd figure it'd be a crazy unstable drilling LOL, but it seemed pretty predictable to me.  I threw it a couple of games on a fresh medium-heavy shot.  It isn't a mild ball at all drilled like that.  I only got to throw it about 20 frames, but it was fun experimenting with it.  It will be better on some of the Sport Patterns at 800 grit I think.  That is just too much surface for me on a THS.  I'm going to hit it with rough buff and see how she is on a more medium house shot.  

At any rate, Steven is right.. it's nothing but a footnote, if that, in Big B history.

I agree with Steven
the Fury is longer and weaker than the total for me.  not that it is junk, it just isn't a ball that does what it was supposed to do.  It definitely needs some dry baords to recover off of.
I decided to polish mine and use it for medium and later shift.  Not a personal favourite, but it works well on my house pattern.

The Fury and the Twisted work extremely well when used on the shot they were meant to be used on.
They are arsenal balls, not bread and butter balls.

You don't drive on snow tires in the middle of summer!!!

What point would it be, If Brunswick made every ball for the same shot.

A good pro shop would put the right ball in the hands of the bowler, to meet the void in his arsenal.

For me, the Fury is one of my best pieces of equipment.  It matches up well with my rev rate and speed with the drill pattern I have and I really get great control with my shots when I keep it on line and hit my mark.  It works best for me on medium to oily house shot.  On dry lanes, it is not a great match.  I just had my highest game score with the Fury, a 253, this past week in league play.  After league play ended, I threw 3 more practice games and had no score lower than 215.  This is a great ball for me; sad to see Big B discontinue it; I'll probably try to snag a new undrilled ball somewhere down the line.

I have not drilled or thrown mine.  BUT I've seen the thing look great and friends who loved the Ultimate Inferno.....have loved the FURY.

Don't know....want to find out!
