Inferno and carrydown?
« on: January 03, 2004, 07:28:50 PM »
Hey everyone,

I'm just about to get a used Inferno from a user on here and I'm wondering whether or not I can drill it to be my carrydown ball. Now don't get me wrong, I realize that pearl reactives and carrydown are usually not a good match for one another. However, with the Inferno being as strong as it is I was wondering if I could drill it for when the heads are going but there is still some oil down the lane. I already have a Black Cherry Bomb for when the oil is long and heavy from foul line to pin deck, now I just need a ball that will recover when my pearl cherry bomb can't cut through the oil at the backend but the Black cherry is burning up too early. Is there a combo of drilling and prep that will allow me to do this with an Inferno? You can check my profile, but I am RH with above average speed. I can stroke the ball with little to no revs or I can crank it up and put a pretty good amount of hand into it, so there's some versatility there. I've seen the Inferno do some great things for some people, and I'm wondering whether or not I can make it work also. If you guys don't think that I can get it to work in the way that I'm describing, I may just sell or trade it for something that can. Any and all help is appreciated!

Bowling is without a doubt the dumbest, most pointless, most idiotic excuse for a game that has ever been invented. So, what time are we bowling tomorrow?

the answer to your question is difficult as everyone's ability is different.  My main concern would be on synthetic conditions as the Inferno will skate on carrydown depending on rev or speed.  The Raging Inferno would be more of my choice if you can get enough speed to get it through the fronts without burning up as it starts up earlier.  I saw this a couple of weeks ago when a friend and competitor was throwing the Inferno and the first two frames of the third game you could see it getting to the pocket but having trouble turning the corner. He took the Raging out and threw the next 10 on basically the same line.  He has 18 300 so he is a person I watch when I am competing with him as he is excellant at reading the lanes and is not a cranker.  Not sure this helps, good luck.

I can't use my Inferno on carrydown, as soon as I see it sliding too much into the pocket and leaving 10's, I'll usually go to my Raging Inferno.  Just what works for me, but I have to have particles for carrydown.

If I am understanding correctly carrydown happens as you bowl right? If I am right, my Inferno just gets better as the games go. The third game is usually when I get the best reaction from it. But then again, I'm a lefty so I don't get as much carrydown as righties I guess.

Mine as the lanes broke down just started pinging and leaving
10 pins which i am horrible at shooting so my case no would be the answer for carrydown. It got very angular and left solid 9s and 10s but that was just experience with the ball the guy i sold it too also never uses it for carrydown either and he has slower ball speed than mine.
