Inferno drilling question
«

Hey guys my local proshop had a used inferno in good shape just sitting on the rack so I decided to play with it. Will a 10:30 drill work well for this ball. Never had one before. What kind of drill would you guys recommend for descent control with a good backend on mediums. Or is the 10:30 cool.

You will need to give some details on your style specs for anyone to have an accurate answer. (speed, revs, axis rotation, axis tilt, PAP) Tell as much about yourself as you can.

dont know how you throw but if you looking for a the ball to be controlable then 1030 is always a good pattern as long as you are a high rev player but i dont recommend this for low rev player cause you wont get what you want out of the ball. How do you throw?

Im a medium rev bowler with a descent amount of revs. I usually play down ten or out to ten depending on what the lanes give me. Im told I put a some spin on the ball.

Im not considered a cranker but im in between. I generally use stack leverage drills or stuff with the pin low. I use some particle equipment when im trying to stroke the ball to the pocket. But if im looking for major flip on the backend i use a vortex 2 trimax pearl or a bruiser. I like the control with a strong backend though. Thats why im considering the 10:30 drill.

A 10:30 drill supplies a hook set type of movement.
A lot of midlane usually with a smooth or rounded backend.
Im my opinion one should be aware of the coverstock of an Inferno.
It is activator which if one reads the description it says that it
Paraphrase reacts MORE in oil and LESS off dry. Sounds a little like a Urethane reactive cross doesn't it. Or maybe a particle without particles. This IS the new trend, these cross coverstocks with less skid snap.
Therefore if one already reads the heads and midlanes better than reactive the need for cg out drillings or 10:30 is less.
I have seen great success by others using very small kickouts say more like 11:00 or 11:30s or even stacked or label with these balls.
I just received a righthanded one yesterday drilled label leverage 1:30 with a strong pin position and even highly polished it was very even and hard revving in the midlane.
Idea, stay away from pure 10:30 drillings or you will emphasize too much midlane ONLY in this ball.
REgards,
Luckylefty
PS many found the above strategy to also work well with particles Except for extreme oil situations where the backends were still flying then the 10:30 was appropriate!

Well im a on a higher medium as far as revs are concerned. And I usually dont have to worry about getting balls up the lanes. I still want it to have a descent backend and play with it on most mediums. So will the 10 30 meet those needs.

Again I'm recommending between stacked and 11:00 oclock.

Excuse me for my ignorance but does the 11:00 and 10:00 drills mean they are low with the cg kicked to a different side or what?

Imagine a clock!
Line from cg to pin points at oclock.
Stacked is 12:00 o clock.
Cg out near 45 degree angle is 10:30
Cg out less = 11:00
Cg out more than 45 = 10:00
CG straight out = 9:00
Get it!
REgards,
Luckylefty
PS the more the cg out the earlier the roll and hook and the less the backend flip!
