Title: Inferno Experiences????
Post by: rb27 on March 21, 2004, 07:18:06 AM
I recently drilled up an Inferno for something
different in my arsenal.  The pin is over
the fingers and cg bumped 1/2 positive.
I had the factory surfaced changed to
a smooth 1200 without polish.
I've experimented with it for two straight
weeks in one league starting with 280 one
week and 290 the next.  Obviously, it matched
up!  Trouble is ...... the last two games
each week were "trouble".  Lots of carry
and reaction problems.
It just sees lane transitions differently
than my other stuff and hits like a cream
puff after the first game.
We all feel "bad" shots, but that's not
the case here.
Any input would be appreciated!

I have the same problems at times.  It has such a strong core that I think it being reactive makes it a little condition specific at time.  When it does match up it's an awesome ball though.

I've noticed the same things already mentioned.  It works best for me with around a 2000 finish on it--just below a shine.  To rb27, I think maybe your problems with it later in the evening might be the ball burning too early.  As Bob said, you have to know when to put it away.  For me, it works better as a go-to ball when the light load particle stuff I start with starts to burn too early.

Very unique ball.  Looks nice, but too many minor over/unders caused by what is a very aggressive pearl coverstock.  Stays in the pocket, visually impressive hit, but not overly impressive carry -- 4 pin, 10 pin, 7 pin, 9 pin....  Seems to work better for people at the extremes -- more speed, more revs, less speed, more sideroll, etc.
