Title: Inferno vs Smash/r
Post by: LuckyLefty on April 11, 2005, 04:09:43 PM
Well well well.

I must say I have not been loving my Inferno.

It is just too evenly strong on our severe local wet dry.

But I pulled out a stacked 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 smash/r the other day and it was sweet.

Lots of rev up yet decent length.  Then a smooth and not jumpy turn and arc.   Then a POW to the kisser!  Good bye.

Took to another house where backend needs to be generated and it couldn't get it's footing and couldn't pop over anything!

But smooth, and good lookin on lanes.

I think it sort of does what the Inferno is suppossed to do with that typical reactive punch and a slightly more rounded look.

IMO the Inferno is a Heavy-Med Ball if thrown right. Smash-R would be a med-light

The better ball on tour clearly seems to be the Inferno!

The better ball on overreactive backends in league is.....?

I have found it is awesome on overreactive backs.

Crap where you need the ball to drive.

Activator coverstock is known for reacting less to dry than pure reactive also.

Balls should be somewhat comparable.

As a maximizer, some revs, a strong side roll and softer speed I see big differences in my reactions also.

From Brunswicks website..regarding activator.

In the mid-lane: The Ultra-Low RG core used in the Inferno provides strong mid-lane recovery while its Activator coverstock provides improved traction in the oil with a smoother, more effective reaction off the dry. This combination reduces over/under reaction by making the wet play less wet and the dry, less dry, effectively allowing the bowler to create more area.

On the back-ends: The Inferno’s Activator coverstock is powerful and continuous from the breakpoint through the pins. Improved traction in the oil allows the Inferno to bite through the carry down and aggressively change direction without breaking loose from the lane. The strong rolling characteristics of the Ultra-Low RG core make this move more readable allowing you to open up the lane.

At the pins: The Activator coverstock used on the Inferno creates lower, more active pin action for improved carry.

Translation, more hook in oil, less hook and reaction to dry!

Perfect....For the tour!

Or, what particles were suppossed to be!  If you want hard quick response to dry, pure reactive balls are STILL the way to go!  If you want hook in the oil and smoothness of break ACTIVATOR baby!
