Fury Pearl Tour Edition or Avalanche pearl?
« on: March 23, 2008, 02:00:56 PM »
For those who have tried both which one is better as they break down?
I was wondering how weak both were and how well to they hit as they break down?

I have the Fury Pearl TE, and it isn't a weak ball at all.  It has a 4" pin drilled pin over the ring finger and CG on the right side of the palm.  I took the OOB finish and gently scotch brited it to even out the snap off the dry.  It hooks the same number of boards as my twisted fury, but has more of an arc to the pocket on the back end simply because it is drilled for that.  Honestly, they are very similar balls.

If you are looking for a weak ball I'd go with a Power Groove or Avalanche.

I have the avalanche pearl drilled rico. Left the ball oob. I am able to play with a minor swing at my house. I play down and in. As a rule this house is very light oil. As far as me I have slow ball speed with fair revs. Also my roll is mostly end over end. Hope this helps.

Do you want something for as they break down or for broken down?

I can't speak for the Fury TE, but I have an Avalanche Pearl. I throw hard 19-19mph and have med/high-high revs. I love the Avalanche Pearl when the lanes get toasted. I have used it in my second shift league a few nights and just used in a tournament this weekend. It gets through the head really smooth, even when they are burnt. For me it still has some angularity on the back end and makes a good move off the break point. If you are looking for a drier lane ball, then I'd get the Avalanche Pearl.

Depends on your definition of "better."

For me, both balls are extremely clean in front, even when the fronts start to go.  The difference is in the reaction at the break.  My FP TE starts up quicker and recovers strong from inside lines, while my Av Pearl is smoother from front to back, and excels at going direct.
