I agree with Dusty. I've tAken mine up and down the grit line and it's very versatile and strong. Try 1200-1500 sanded, left dull. If that doesn't work, try 600-800 grit. Its cover is very flexible.
I can't believe you said you bought it for oil. It is a resin pearl and it has a high RG. It can't handle medium to medium-heavy oil but like all pearls, you need to hit some to a fair amount of dry before it's going to hook. The Ultimate Inferno is for oil; the next in line is the Absolute Inferno, so far as oil handling (I think). I bought my Intense for medium-light and box surface was too strong for that.
