Intense Inferno questions
« on: January 03, 2010, 11:29:35 AM »
I just got a used Intense Inferno that is in good shape overall, but I know nothing about it and have never thrown Brunswick before.  Can someone tell me what the OOB finish is on this ball, and what the best way is to resurface it using a spinner to get it back up to OOB?  Also, does this ball generally tend to work better at OOB or something else, and what kind of lane conditions is it most suited to?

It used to come polished OOB - basic 400 grit wet sanded with Brunswick's High Gloss polish. With this surface, though, the ball was pretty sharp and hard to predict, which made it a hit ro miss for many players. With its higher RG core and the sghiny surface, it was intended for medium conditions.

As a side note, the Activator+ coverstock (also used on the Absolute Inferno, Shock & Awe and Vapor Zone) had a narrow utility window and reacted strongly to surface changes. It is no wonder that the II was the only Activator+ ball until today that came shiny - any other ball I can remember came with the Rough Buff finish (on 220 base grit), which I hardly recommend for it if you have control trouble, or a 4.000 Abralon finish as an alternative.

Box finish is 400 plus Brunswick's High Gloss polish.

The Intense Inferno went longer than the others and was more angular. It is suited for playing somewhat close to friction. One of my favorite balls to watch go down the lane.
