Intense Inferno Vs Blazing Inferno
« on: June 25, 2004, 02:45:09 PM »
From what Ive read, the Intense is supposed to be a better version of the Blazing. I wonder what changes they made besides the tweaked coverstock.

Did you guys even bother reading the specs on this?  There's no way its going to replace the Blazing.  It looks as if they made this  to cut through carrydown with drier fronts.  Whereas the regular Infernos, Ultimates, and Ragings can burn in the heads if they're dry and not get through carrydown, but the Blazing skids forever when there's oil.  It seems as if this Activator + coverstock is alot like most Particle Pearls, where they get through the heads and midlane and then starts a hard arc, which makes them great for getting through carrydown.

WELLS........

You may be able to elaborate on this one.  It almost sounds like it will be an improved version of the Blazing.  Otherwise, why would they discontinue the Blazing so soon?  I would think it would be a pearl version of the Ultimate since the Ultimate seemed to burn up so fast (then again....I work at a place where they only oil 32 feet).  Just from using common sense.....the Ultimate SEEMED too early, and the Blazing was too squirty.  So....why not find the happy medium?  But, isn't that what the Original Inferno is?  I am thinking the Intense will go longer than the Original with more backend recovery.  Am I in the ballpark with this assessment, Wells?

No the Intense is the Blazing done right. they've probably just changed the cover and kept the same core.

The intense has a mushroom quantum core I watched Eric forkel using it the other night very strong ball not sure of cover but looked like an ultimate coverstock but i am sure it is tweaked. It rolls stronger on backend than ultimate so probably less particle load but i am guessing really.

I still think the largest reason for the Blazing being disc. was its similarities with the SlayR.  It sounds to me like this new one is just Brunswick listening to what was said and/or seen concerning the Blazing.  It will clear the fronts better than any Inferno out now, but reads the midlane and backend stronger than the original Inferno, thereby making it less susceptible to over/under reactions, but it doesnt bleed as much energy in the midlane as the Ultimate, thereby allowing it to kick much harder on the backend, especially on carrydown.  The Blazing cleared the fronts great, but in my opinion lacked the coverstock footprint to be able to roll well on carrydown, which made it "too weak" in the eyes of the general public. I like the idea of this new one :0

Why would Eric Forkel use an Intense? I thought he bowled for Storm?

Spot on.  The biggest problem with the Blazing was that *it* *just* *didn't* *sell.*

Not anymore;  I heard a few weeks ago that he's now a free agent.

Everything that I am seeing on this thread appears to be speculation.
Do we have ANY concrete info on this piece?

Well, Bowl Expo was this week, and the Mini starts today, so I imagine that we'll be learning a lot more about the Intense over the next week or so.

I've only seen one Blazing in this area, well maybe two.  The first one I drilled for the guy, it was one of the first batch I think.  It had more of an orangish tint to it.  He couldn't get it to move on THS unless he was wayyyy outside(the pin was 5 1/2 from pap).  I threw it a couple of times and was able to play pretty well with it.

The second one I saw at a tourney, the guy used it in later games when the track area was gone.  I worked well, he only missed the cut by a few pins.

As for the intense, it definitely sounds like a ball that we have never seen before.  I haven't seen many balls that clear the heads well AND rev in the midlane AND cut through carrydown, all this high gloss polished.  I am intrigued to try one, I haven't decide yet.
