To Full Impulse
« on: December 08, 2004, 02:53:55 PM »
Tested the Impulse tonight. Not bad, not really clean through the heads, but midlane was strong and has a heavy backend rolly arcing reaction, less backend then Raging inferno. Very similar look but more arc in the backend.

over all good. nice for blending heavy over under conditions.

How do you think the Impulse will compare to the Warp Zone?

I didn't think there was any way in HE11 that an Activator based particle ball, even light load, was going to replace a Fuze Eliminator. Since the Brunswick engineers seem to know what they're doing, more than likely this ball was meant to fill a niche, and not to be a "replacement" for the Eliminator. TheDude - have you thrown an Eliminator? Any comparison?

Yup the eliminator was very popular in this area for most players. Most kept it shined and a few did dull it. Shiney the ball was very clean through the heads. I think the Eliminator was a PK 18 based particle.

The impulse is a Activator based Particle.

This core has less flare potential then the classic zone and it can be seen by the watchful eye.

In comparison to the warp zone. The warp zone is all hook. the Impulse atleast tries to get through the heads, to save something for the midlane. This ball with some surface still wouldn't be a warp zone, and a warp zone with polish i think would be closer to a Raging IMPO.

Arcing good for controlling overunder. on a long sport pattern this ball would own it.

TheDude:  Thanks for your observations.  However, I'm *still* not quite sure if and where an Impulse would fit in my arsenal...

Ranking it in oil handling ability:
Below Warp zone,Raging Inferno,
Above Original Inferno,

Ball doesn't get much length actually. i think it is 70 on the brunswick scale. It is really a look that is classically brunswick. Turn early and arc. Probably be good for tougher sport conditions.

One more question, if you don't mind...

Do you think the Impulse will recover better than the Warp Zone on tougher conditions?  That's the only knock I have on the Warp right now;  I have to play it more direct if I want to carry the corners.

Don't need to.  That's what dry boards are for.

I guess I'm almost dead then - I can't seem to find boards dry enough to give me enough "left turn".

That's why I bowl a second-shift league.  It deludes me into thinking I actually still have some hand.

The classic was laid out 4 1/2 with MB in strong position. The Impulse was laid out 3 1/2 with the pin just slightly above the fingers, with the MB closer to the Val.

The Impulse really seems to be a good ball for when there is carrydown infront of the classic. We left the surfaces as they come from the box.

Ball seems to be close to the eliminator, like Rich says if you stack it or keep the PSA way from the VAL. Basically it is more ball then the eliminator. But in a good way
