Introducing.........The Backdraft (and possibly Zenith)
« on: January 24, 2005, 11:30:12 AM »
How many of you would like to try out a fire quantum core, wrapped in the original activator cover?  WOuldn't that be sweet?  Bob7 and i think so, and we need 998 other orders to make it happen.  Brunswick will remake any core with any cover for an order of 1000.  We think this would be an awesome ball to try, but we have to place an order of 1000 balls, so it's obvious we'll need help.  Ask people you bowl with if they'd be interested, i think this could be the best ball ever.

We were thinking of calling it the Backdraft.

EDIT:  Bobmatt and i have come up with a second ball to compliment it, the Zenith.  It will have the core of an ultimate inferno, but a solid pk18 coverstock.  Specs right now are:

Backdraft
Fire quantum core- low rg, .032 differential (low)
Original activator pearl coverstock
Black, with bright green pearl

Zenith
Ultimate inferno core- 2.513 RG, .05 differential
Solid Powerkoil 18 coverstock
Black and old hammer pink seems to be the choice

WE will make the backdraft first and if it works out, we'll make the zenith.

When you decide to make a ball with the Rhino Pro T2 core let me know,
I'll buy about 10

How about we just remake the Raven Quantum?

Well whatever, we still need a bunch of people.

Nah, i'd rather see what would happen with the Backdraft.

But a quantum with activator would be so cool!  Joe, we can make the raven after we see what happens with the Backdraft.

Haha, don't worry, if this works, i'm sure we'd be able to get people to get a raven and probably other stuff.

It would probably similar to the Inferno anyway. Same cover both have a low Rg core(I think)

Brunswick 04-06

Yeah but i'm thinking it will be smoother and might react differently due to different core shape.  Besides, who doesn't want a ball nobody else has?

Personally, I'd rather see the Activator cover paired up with a lower differential core, something like the WRW MVP.

What would you name this Quantum if it was made?

Yeah, it would be different than a bruiser.  The core we're using is a low differential, low rg core with activator.  The bruiser is a medium diff, medium rg with pk18.  I think they'll be different.

Nick, the fire's core has like .032 diff, .001 higher than the WRW ball.

ANd nick, in the first post, a tentative name is the Backdraft.

What I'd *really* like to see would be a solid PK 18 shell with a matte finish over the the original Inferno core.  Something like that might give the V2 a run for its money.

How much would this ball run? If it was in the 90- $100 range shipped, you can count me in for one

I haven't had success with Activator (yet) on heavier oil or longer patterns.  For me, PK 18 handles a wider range of volumes than Activator.

But maybe the Absolute will prove me wrong...

YOu guys, I'll have to get a price estimate from brunswick.  I wouldn't think it be a horrible amount, considering other sites who are doing remakes and stuff are selling for 110-120, and shops always have to make a profit...

Maybe the next (original) ball could the ultimate inferno core with PK18, to compliment this one.
