Bill Wasserberger (Brunswick R&D) explained it well. Back when the Rampage was released, the term "hybrid" was not commonplace in the industry. Although the red is solid and the gold pearl, it took awhile before the industry started using the term hybrid.
If the ball were released today, the description on the ball would be a hybrid since the term is more widely used today.
Years ago when the Brunswick Proactive balls were introduced, the term "particle" was not being used either, although they were still particle balls by today's definition. As the industry adopted the use of the "particle" name, Brunswick adapted it's terminology to avoid unnecessary confusion to the consumer.
