Is this 3 ball setup enough?
« on: February 25, 2007, 03:25:45 AM »
I currently have the total inferno for heavy oil, black widow for the heavier side of medium, and the bvp rampage for medium dry.  Is there another ball I can add to make this complete for regular league or does this cover it enough?

I was also wondering if you guys had any suggestions for a 4 ball roller. Since my 2 ball is not cutting it anymore.

Should cover enough ground, if you dont already have one, get a plastic ball (target zone or equivalent) for spares/extremely dry. Depending on your speed/rev rate combo and surfaces on the balls for the set oil (Total OOB to cover your heavy) this setup should cover most std league conditions. If wanting to go with all Big B, a Red Zone at 2000 abralon would work very nice as a Widow replacement, or perhaps a Wizard at 2000 as well. As far as 4 ball bags go, look into the Brunswick 3-4-5 bag, 3 ball roller setup that can carry up to 5 balls if needed.

You could add something for a little more oil maybe the Fury when it comes into full availability.  I personally would add a blue Vibe in there to have a control ball for the lighter side of medium. We don't know how you have them drilled, but a ball that is not designed to be an all skid flip reaction could be huge if you run in to tougher conditions.  I like the Vibe because it is versital and can really smooth patterns out as well as hit like crazy, o and its cheap!

On the four ball roller, I would tell you from experience that they are NOT fun.  Loading a bag that has 60lbs of balls, and then all the other stuff on top of it to a total of about 75lbs in an awkward shape into a car/bus if you do the HS bowling is NOT fun.  I personally love the 2 ball totes from brunswick, you can get one with a holder for shoes and there are ones without, the tops are clear so you can see what you have in them, they have a nice carry strap and they are a great size to be able to move around.  You can get them online pretty cheap or at a proshop for about $50 for the shoe model or about $40 without shoes.  They make it real easy to carry every thing.   I think they call them Brunswick player totes, I think you would like it better overall but thats me.

All of my balls are drilled to be skid-flip.  The black widow that I had won from a raffle does not feel right.  The slug in the thumb feels very sandy.

With these new balls, I do feel more adequately equipped but at the same time, I feel like my game needs a lot more tweaking.  I need to learn how to read lanes more as I just throw it sometimes and see what happens.  I am planning on trying a couple of the JBT events and see how I fare.
