Question on AI and UI
« on: April 14, 2005, 01:24:23 PM »
Hi I intend to buy either the AI or UI and have a question each regarding this two balls....

a) Have anyone polished his AI ? What is the reaction after it is polished ?
Will it still be good for medium if it is polished.

b) Have anyone polished his UI ? Will it a good medium ball after it is polished ?

Hopeyou guy can help me....thanks

The AI will be better for medium, since that seems what you're bowling on.

It depends on what you want the ball to do.  Personally, I think the AI is best suited in box condition for mediums and the UI polished up for mediums.  Leave the Ultimate dull or in box condition for the heavier lane conditions.  I would only polish the AI if they get to be a little drier.

Thanks guys...I know i will get this type of answers. Actually I know that AI is more for medium but I just don't understand why I prefer the UI much more and hoping that by polishing the surface, it will give me a good medium lane reaction. I still can't decide. Sign..............

Ace,

I have both balls and love them equally. With my speed, and with the UI polished, they can both be used on mediums. The shot shape will be different, however. The UI starts up a whole lot sooner and seems to be best suited for playing straighter lines. The AI starts further in the midlane and reacts more like a typical pearl, long and strong. Personally, I think a completely dominant arsenal could be made out of just these two balls. The question about which one you want really depends on the type of shot that you like to play. If you want to be able to go in deeper and swing it, the AI will probably be the better choice, not that the UI can't be used in that way. If you like playing up the boards, the UI is tough to beat. Just my .02. Good luck and good bowling to you.

I have them both and they both work well on mediums. The AI is more inclined to be used for mediums in box finish. My UI is polished, and it hooks more and more smoothly than the AI. They both git r' done though!!!

IMO,You can't go wrong.

Basically if BrunsRicH says it, it's gold. I agree TOTALLY with his reply, as I have seen it for myself firsthand! I would almost always trust his opinion on ball selection as far as Brunswick goes. He knows his stuff.

I have both the UI and the AI.  Both have agressive cores along with agressive coverstocks.  I drilled both agressively.  2 inch pin under ring finger with Cg kick out to the legal max with balance hole.  What does this spell  . . . POLISH IT!  Polished, my UI still requires some head oil to be truly effective.  My AI polished is super clean through the heads, but still flexes it's muscle about a foot further down the lane than the UI in the midlane area, stores up all it's energy and then makes an insane turn to the pocket on the backend. Carries hard and often.  Hide the children and small house pets!  I tried my AI for about a dozen games in the ruff buff box condition, but I soon as I polished it, I crushed the front 10 and follow that with the front 8.  Ball of the Year, says my vote.
