Blazing Inferno for drier mediums?
« on: February 15, 2004, 03:51:17 AM »
Hey i was also thinking about a blazing inferno..What do you all think? I need something that will clear the heads pretty good but wont jump crazy at the backend..Thats the main problem i am having..If i was to get this ball how should i drill it so its not jumping like crazy on the backend but has a strong controllable backend?

Thanks

I think the blazing would be a bit strong for drier shots, its a medium/heavy oil ball I believe.

Mine does exactly what you are asking for allstar.  When my inferno is too much my blazing is perfect.  Clears the heads nicely and makes a nice controlled turn in the back.  I see you are a lefty, hmm.  2 of my teammates have them and one has a bit more hand that the other.  Guy with more hand only got his about 2 weeks ago, but his is drilled pin over his ring, cg just left of center.  His rolls great, similar to my RH drill.  Other guy is a pure stroker and recently had his redrilled from pin above bridge, cause he didn't really do anything he said before.  Think he got it drilled more label and likes it more now.  I think it's a great ball for anyone who knows what they are doing, lol.

Well i have high speed..So i mean length isnt the problem or nothin..Its not how much it hooks really its the backend.. I need length with a controlled backend..That would be perfect..So should i drill it pin over bridge cg under ring..Or pin over ring cg stacked under?

IMO, the blazing inferno is not as forgiven as other 3, and if you have a weak drilling, you may not be able to get the reaction you want. I use mine on outside down n in or tight inside shoot. In all four infernos, this is my least favorite one, but I got more high score games from it than other three...hope the ultimate inferno will change this, since i just got mine for days

Allstar, how the ball reads the dry is going to be more influenced by which way you're swinging the mass.  If your PAP is pretty close to just standard (around 4 3/4 to 5 1/2) then a Pin over fingers drilling is probably what you want, but keep the cg in your palm or maybe even a little on the negative side, this will smooth out the backend. Also, you could do as someone else suggested and drill the pin under the fingers to smooth out the backend, if you think you have enough ball speed to keep it from reading the midlane too early.

IMO.....stay away from the "flippy" pearls if you are looking for control. The Blazing will be too much.  With you being a tweener, the Slay/R is a better choice by Brunswick.  YES, it is a pearl, but it will not be as aggressive as the Blazing.  HOWEVER, if you really like the Green Gargoyle, look into the Slate Blue Gargoyle.  It is the same block as the Green, but with a urethane cover.  That will get through the heads well and have that "controlled" reaction on the backend with the same pop at the pins as the Green.

Well My ball speed is around 18-19..Id probly drill it pin above fingers as i love those types of drillings..Almost every ball i have is drilled above. Im goin to my proshop today to see what he says..But im not sure..The reason i was looking at the blazing inferno is because its particle pearl..Like my thrash and i loved my thrash it was controllable on the backend and still had awesome hit..

OOps! The Raging is particle pearl. The Blazing is resin pearl, AFAIK!
