King Quantum

Any guesses on the coverstock on this piece?
Specs tell me its the Original Inferno core.
I picked one up for $55 shipped from bowlingball.com on eBay.

Activator plus.

Looks like it might be a AI clone.

It'd be sweet if it had the old quantum musheoom core..

Oh and by the way...

BALL 'HO!!!

Anyone find out for sure about the coverstock?
Is it the Activator+ from the AI or something different??

Still dunno, it *COULD* be activator+ as Vince states, not sure who his source is though.

I have not had any Brunswick confirmation as of yet what the cover is.
800 Grit Sanded Pearl is all I can confirm.

for a real picture of it:

Good luck getting any confirmation of what this ball's coverstock really is from anyone from Brunswick if they are state side.  They seem as clueless as the next guy.

I got a response from the seller. He said these balls have an Inferno core and a Powerkoil 18 coverstock.

PowerKoil 18 Pearl + Inferno core.

So, isnt this pretty much the ball that everyone was screaming for when the Inferno series first came out?

It kinda scary to think of what kind of reaction this ball will have.
We all know PowerKoil 18 pearl is EARLIER than Activator pearl.

With the Ultra Low RG inferno core matched up with that cover, you better have plenty of head oil with this one.

This cover will definitely need tweeking for me, I was thinking of taking it down to 600 and thennnn applying rough buff compound, It will still keep the midlane from the core, and hopefully clear the heads a bit better. No guarantees though.

Thanks for the info Randy.

That sounds like an awful nice ball for some of the longer PBA patterns...  Not too flashy, but I don't really mind the colors either .. and at $55, hard to pass up.  Nice find!

Thanks Boss.

The ball is VERY sanded, its kind of an odd ball to look at, its almost a hybrid looking cover, mostly solid but a few hints of pearl that catch your eye. It actually looks like a ball of concrete from a distance.

If I remember correctly, a Brunswick rep on here a few years ago stated that PowerKoil 18 wasnt/will not be used on the Inferno core due to a poor matchup.
Early(PK 18)+ Early(Inferno Core)= Too Early.

I guess there is one way to find out!

IMHO opinion that doesn't look anything like any PK18 coverstock out there... the swirls are very reminiscent of Activator+ though.

I was unaware that color swirls were indicitive of what coverstock is on a ball.

Neither was I.  In fact, I've seen some really interesting phasing on SmashRs and Bruisers.

we have a raging in the shop that is all phased like that one, very light light blueish color.  I'd like to know if it is indeed PK18 pearl
