Aura - can't wait
« on: November 01, 2012, 04:39:47 PM »
Very excited to get this ball when it hits on Nov. 14

I've had good success with the NeXXXus, first Brunswick ball since the mid 90s

Been very disappointed with the Storm stuff (threw nothing but Storm for a while) and thinking more Brunswick balls for the future.

I'm not necessarily a Brunswick guy either, although I've still got my Zone Classic in my bag. I think other than that ball the most recent one I've had was the Fury. I really haven't been excited about any of the releases that the big B has put out until this ball, the Aura. Seems like every video of it that I see makes me want it more lol.

Hopefully it lives up to what I expect it to be.

Preface by saying i'm a Storm guy but.....I was able to go to a seminar for the Aura and Meanstreak a couple of weeks ago.  Seeing as it was a cheap price for both balls for attending, I punched up the Aura for myself. The demo balls they had at the seminar didn't give me a clear assessment due to the fact that i'm a lower tracker and most of the balls they had there were pin over/under the ring.

I drilled the Aura with my favorite layout (pin under middle and a low hole) and used it during a league session and wasn't overly impressed.  My IQ Tour (which is my benchmark ball with a similar layout) was 6 boards more.  It seemed when the Aura hit oil it flew threw the breakpoint which was the total opposite of what i saw on the brunswick videos.

My brother who is a Big B guy will be getting one within the week, so we will see how it matches up for him.

You will not be disappointed with the Aura. Do not be afraid to use a stronger layout on this ball. The ball is super clean and maintains the axis rotation which allows stronger drills to be placed.
I am slightly rev dominant and drilled one 40x4.75x70 with a low hole to see what happened. Typically I use this type of layout when I want to shut my angles down stay out of trouble. But this ball still allows me to open my angles too. I could never do that with any other ball that I have thrown. Very good and very versatile.
