Title: Looking For a Good Ball
Post by: shepd1999 on November 29, 2006, 09:41:44 PM
Right now I am working Third shift so I bowl to leagues that start bright in the morning. I have had trouble controlling my ball when It hits the dry. On a night league the backends seem tame and My radical makes a nice move to the pocket. On this morning shot it makes a harder turn that has killed my carry. So what would be a good ball from the BVP line to combat this condition. I am a stroker that play second arrow out to 7 board at the break. Med Revs, and Low to Medium speed 14-15.

If you want something that won't read the dry too hard or too soon, I'd look at the Ambush or Impulse Zone.

Ambush really good for dry. I have one and used it on a 3rd game at 9pm. Even better seen you're a stroker.

as important as the type of ball everyone is recommending, the surface on that ball will make all the difference in the world. a bvp series of ball would be fine except for the fact that the ball snaps too hard on the backend, right ? no problem. scuff off the polish and wetsand the ball very fine( at least 1,000 grit or even higher ). this will cuase the ball to burn some energy as it goes down the lane and will tone down the backend reaction.

Some of you took this as I am bowling on a dry condition. The heads and mid lane has a good amount of oil and the backends are the real dry part. When I have thrown my Power Grove Dry/r and it reacts a little bit. So I am mainly looking at a ball that will be a little smoother arc instead of skid/snap.

I've had good luck with a Vapor Zone on fresh conditions with squeeky clean back ends.It handles carry down well also so I don't have to make big adjustments as the lanes change.
