Looking for layouts
« on: December 11, 2007, 11:45:36 PM »
I just ordered two new balls, a 15# Twisted with a 3-4" pin and 2.5-3.5 oz of top weight, and a 16.2# Stike Zone with 1-2" pin and 2.7 oz of top weight, which I might not keep for myself.

I was trying to decide how to layout atleast the Twisted.  What I am looking for is more length and angle than any of my current balls, so I am guessing pin above the fingers, however I am open to ideas.

For the Strike Zone, if I keep it, I have no concrete ideas in what I am looking for.  Would this be a good ball for a RICO?  I wasn't sure how the short pin would affect a RICO layout, or if this was even a good ball for that layout.

Here is a link that you should be able to get pics of my current arsenal along with their layouts.  http://m.flickr.com/photostream.gne?id=21216485&

I throw the ball somewhere in the 16-17 mph range, have moderate tilt, and I guess I am a power tweener.  My preferred comfort zone is feet at about 30, about 17 at the arrows, and around 8 at my breakpoint.

I am fairly new to trying to understand layouts, so bear with me.  Hopefully I have provided you with enought information, if not let me know.

Thanks for your time.

I've got a Classic Zone with the pin over the bridge (about 5" from PAP) and the MB beside the thumb (on the right/non-track side) that might do what you want.

As for the strike zone if you wanted to put the pin in palm, it would depend on exactly how far away the pin was from the CG, I would think that, generally, you want a pin medium or pin out ball so that you can take a lot of mass out of the core with the balance hole. Chances are with the specs your strike zone has, the balance hole wouldn't be big enough to have the effect that you're looking for with that layout. If you're looking for control, a 2" pin-PAP with the CG as near to the grip centre as possible might provide you with a good alternative.
