Brunswick Remove All is a great de-oiler and general cleaner that can be used before, during and after competition.

anguss, any cleaner approved by the usbc will not "destroy" the coverstock. rather than spend $9-10 on a 8-12oz. bottle of cleaner at your pro shop buy a gallon of simple green and cut it and your ball cleaner will cost pennies per use.

I've used half Simple Green, half rubbing alcohol, and half water before and it makes a pretty good poor-man's ball cleaner.  The Lanemasters cleaner is an excellent "real" ball cleaner, though the smell takes a little getting used to.  Valentino's Remedy is just as good as Lanemasters but without the smell.
