A Brunswick Rhino would be similar reaction but a little weaker overall. Also, the Rhino would have more of a skid / snap type of reaction because of the pearl coverstock. Another choice would be a DV8 Outcast which has similar numbers to the Vintage LT-48.

The DV8 Dude is as close as you'll get to the LT48 but that gem will also be hard to find

Thanks for the suggestions, guys.  I am looking at the BTU as a possible in the urethane category, so maybe I'll give that a try.  Snakster, I can live without for that price.  That's just nutty to spend for a ball that was $95-$99 online at one point.  I don't need it that bad

The BTU is not urethane. While it has a urethane-like reaction in overall smoothness, it is most definitely a resin and hooks a nice amount.

Gasoline was once 25 cents a gallon. Does its current price mean you will never buy gasoline again? Buy what you can afford for what you want. Let the past stay in the past. If balls went up in price like cars, the ball you bought in 1993 when resins first came out would now cost $500.

I don't agree with this analogy. There's a difference between inflation and this, otherwise a plastic ball from 1993 NIB would go for 100's as well.

I'm trying to convince him to buy the BTU and you're contradicting me.

Inflation affects gas, milk and bowling balls, but Bowling has kept the price of balls more than reasonable.
