Alpha Max vs Nexxus or just Alpha Max
« on: May 28, 2012, 10:47:14 AM »
I have watched videos of the Alpha Max and it looks like an early reaction ball and then with an almost skid snap backend.

Any Brunswick experts care to comment on this ball versus the New Nexxus or other well known medium heavy oil house balls?j

Your thoughts and impressions?

Haven't seen an Alpha Max up close, but the Nexxus is stupid strong.  It was hard for me to get deep enough to play on Shark.  Pretty clean though the heads for a ball with a 1500 siaair cover prep, but once it sees friction, look out.  I have a lot of axis rotation, but very little tilt, so no ball is truly skid/snap in my hands, but the Nexxus is pretty darn close.  Even more impressive is that it handles oil really well also.  I only have one week on it so far, I can let you know in 3-4 weeks when we go back to some of the longer/heavier patterns.

Thanks Stider!

Any more Alpha Max users?  I've seen that powerhouse Nexxus.  Big time!

The Alpha Max should read earlier and be a bit more smooth. The new Nexxus P+R will allow most bowlers to open up their angles more.  Both are good, just different shapes. Both take surface changes very well, too.

The Alpha is a few boards less the Nexxus. The difference is all on the back part of the lane. Which is better depends on what you are using it on. The Nexxus will allow you to move left and still go through the pins better than the Alpha will.

The videos I have seen of the Alpha with BillyO the Alpha had a backend that I thought was obscene!

Is the Nexxus necessary for backend creators like myself(obscene side roll and soft speed).

To comment to your last post LL, I come up the back of the ball quite a bit and I found the Nexxus to corner pretty hard even for me. Note that the response to friction can be adjusted by layout and surface still (perhaps a hand scuff to 1000). I would like to ask a question though... Since you are considering the spectrum ranging between the Alpha Max and the Nexxus, would you be interested in selecting a Nexus f(P+F)? I've found the "Nexus Solid" to be practically right in the middle between the Alpha and Nexxus in terms of both overall hook and response to friction.

Oh, I don't know, was looking at some sick deals on the web on the Alpha.

My thought, was....it's too much backend for me!

PS if the Nexxus is bigger, I probably don't need it!
