Fortera series

How much of a difference is there between the Intrigue vs the Exile? Will they overlap too much?  I like hybrid coverstocks so I was looking at the Intrigue more so than the Exile. Then I was thinking about getting both.  Thoughts?

For me the Intrigue was more "user friendly". It just seemed to take surface adjustments a little better suited to what I normally see.  Not sure if my experience has been the same as others since we all bowl on varying conditions.

Comparing the two, I thought the Intrigue was a about 2 boards stronger, but not way different, just seemed more "forgiving".

i wasnt really a fan of the exile. it seemed the cover was too weak for what they were advertising. i think there is enough difference to warrant getting both. especially if you lay them out accordingly. the intrigue will be the fresh ball and the exile would be the transition skid snap ball

I haven't talked to a single person yet where I bowl that liked their Exile. On the Intrigue, some are ok with it while others don't like it either. In fact a friend of mine has had his plugged and re-drilled twice since his original drilling and he still doesn't like the ball and has  given up on it. I think that no longer than the ball stayed on the market, pretty much speaks for itself that this wasn't a good ball.

The Exile seems to be marketed as a stronger ball than it actually is.  I see it being shy in oil particularly on wet/dry conditions where it doesn't traction enough for me when I miss into the puddle.  Staying straighter and going pin down has looked fine, but not totally blown me away.  However, I've liked what it does on Challenge series patterns as it takes full advantage of limited hold/push and I have to agree that the Intrigue has a much grippier cover which is much more forgiving when crossing through oil.

I had the Intrigue a little longer than the Exile for me.  The Intrigue has been a mainstay in my bag and like other balls with the Fortify Cover it works better when the lanes break down.  Both balls get excellent length.  I find they work better when used by rev dominant players and players with slower speeds.  The exile transitions very quickly when it hits the breakpoint while the Intrigue tends to push a little farther and be a little less hook set.  I find that people who don't like the balls tend to try and throw them on the fresh without enough surface.  They work much better once the lanes breakdown and you need to open them up left to right.

I think both balls at 135.99 each is a ripe off for performance. But now at 89.99 each on clearance they might be a steal. Intrigue for medium and exile for light could be an awesome pick up.
