Help with Altering Total Surface
« on: February 16, 2007, 12:20:31 AM »
Lately our house has been playing relativly dry so that I have only been able to use the Total for 1st game. I have my Total out of box rough buff. My question is has anyone altered the surface, and had any problems with the ball being squirty. I'm concerned that if I bring the surface up too much I'll start to have a problem with carry down.  Also what would everyone recommend on high to take it. Just looking for suggestions. Thanks for you time.

Out of box finish is similar to 2000 Abralon. I would suggest taking the cover down to 500 Abralon and then work it up with 1000 and then 2000. Go out and throw it. If it still too much overall reaction, take it up to 4000. Again go out and throw it. Again gauge it's reaction and how much it is changing, i.e. how many boards you are moving. Next step would be Rough Buff for a minute or 2 on a spinner and then High Gloss Finish.

If you work up slowly, you have a better chance of creating the correct or desired reaction.
