Trizact system for Quantums.
« on: January 23, 2007, 01:39:46 PM »
I picked up a Quantum Blue Denium and the drill sheet said to use the trizact system to bring the ball back to oob surface.  Wondering if that system is still availible or if there is something similar I can do using abralon or scotch pads to bring it back to oob?

Also looking to the future, any idea what a modern day replacemet would be?  I was thinking an Ambush or maybe the Mammoth with polish.

Thanks

JD

Cerium Oxide is is about 10,000 grit from what I have heard never the less 4000 abralon is nowhere close to what you get with cerium oxide.

Try emailing these people. I know that they carry trizact at Nationals so I would imagine they have some in stock. http://nationalbowlingstore.com/home.asp

If used on a Resurfacing machine, Abralon will work just fine! Trizact was an OK idea but Abralon run's circles around it!

Sorry, just not true, Drrev.

Trizact's abrasive is so much harder than Abralon's silicon carbide. I know as I used wet/dry sandpaper with the same abrasive to try to modify several balls. Trizact sandpaper made a WORLD of difference. It actually affected those super hard particles, when silicon carbide just did not.

It's not only the fineness of the grit, it's the hardness of the actual abrasive used. Trizact's abrasive is MUCH harder than Abralon's and wet/dry sandpaper's silicon carbide.

Thanks for the replies.

I contacted the National bowling store, and they replied saying I should just use abralon pads on a spinner and they will have them in Reno...  So I guess Im going to have to ask around at some local pro shops and see if they have any ideas.

Right now the coverstock is in good shape, I hit it with a light coat of polish to spruce it up and it rolls great.

thanks again,

JD

I can certainly attest to this.  I saw a Purple Monster (Proactive) from Brunswick take the "sand" off the piece of 400 grit sandpaper that I was using as I tried to resurface it.

I also recently saw someone trying to resurface a New Standard from Legends and the only thing that touched the coverstock on it (that he attempted trying while I was there) was the diamond pads on the Haus.

Try this place:
http://www.bowlersdiscountsales.com/store/page32.html

The place where I originally got mine, Innovative Bowling SUpplies, no longer lists them.

Also do an internet search for TRIZACT.

I still have a ton of trizact leftover, just don't know where the "grapefruits" to hold them are!

Thanks for the link Charlest, they have a variety pack thats around $20 that would do just fine.

Are these useable by hand like abralon pads or will I need to find a proshop who has "grapefruits" to do the work for me.

thanks again,

JD

I never used them without the "grapefruits"; and they use the reverse (the hooks instead of the loops), I believe. When you call, see if they even still have the Trizact and then ask about the holders (CABs).

Plus do that internet search for trizact.
