Brunswick BVP Rampage

Hi, new to this forum. I am a new bowler and i am looking at purchasing the Brunswick BVP Rampage. It is 159.99$ at the local proshop here which includes the drilling. What people here have this ball and how do you like it? It looks like it is a pretty good ball and no a bad price. Otherwise off the net it is 100$ and like 65$ to get drilled plus s&h. I usually bowl on medium oil lanes and right now i usually throw straight balls. trying to figure out how to put the spin on the ball and get the turn on it so it hits the pocket. Any help on any of this would be appreciated.

160 is fair, not great but very fair.

Otherwise, the Rampage would be an excellent choice.  The Power Groove line would also be a super choice for you to learn with.

at the proshop here it is 149 plus grips and slug... $5/ea for grips and $10 for slug... so 160 is good compared to here

First off....the Rampage is a a good start.  However, I would push more into something lower end like a Scout/R Particle HiFlare.  GREAT beginner ball.  

Secondly.....as a pro shop guy, $160 with drilling is fairly average among pro shops.  ANY mid price ball is around $150-160, so how is 160 a rip off?  Like Kyle mentioned already, internet is $100, so with what most pro shops charge for a blank drill, you are already back to $160.  Go one from a pro shop and be done with it.

Actually the net would be more expensive. $100 for ball PLUS shipping, another $15-$25, PLUS drilling (with inserts and slug) $35-$60. Yeah, definately go with the proshop on this.

As for being a 1st ball to start with, I would suggest going with a Power Groove Reactive. It'll save ya amost $60 and the ball is still great for learning how to get the ball to hook. Thats just my opionion.

As for the Rampage, I have 1. I find it for me, to be touchy on certain oils but overall its a great ball. I like mine.

most pro shops around here sell it for $140-145 including drilling. grips extra.

all I know is a mid price ball is a ripp off in a shop. get them off buddies or something, I dont know the exact prices but I got my absolute for 150 with grips and a slug, now that is a deal I know but bvps are like 5-10 bucks less here.

My store:

BVP Rampage: $99.95

Drilling: $39.95

Cost w/o Inserts: $ 139.90

Grips and slugs: $18.00

Total Cost with Finger Inserts and a thumb Slug: $157.90

Nemesis might be a little more versatile for you. If cost is a factor you might go with the 3 piece Scouts or Power Groves.

From what i have heard on here now i guess this is a good price for the ball with drilling. For the grip inserts it is an extra 18$ here. Do they make a big difference or dont they?

Yesterday I went to get my Rampage altered (surface prep) since it flips too hard for me. Had it sanded 350(?) wet sand and Rough Buff applied. They didn't have a 220 pad and I wasn't gonna mess with a 150 . Subbed for a friend afterwards; shot 202, 212 (no opens) and 165 (one chop, two splits). Was very satisfied and the backend motion was very even for me. Don't be afraid to experiment!
