Zone Classic Red-Pin - WOW!!!!!
« on: November 22, 2005, 03:19:56 AM »
Been bowling for 27 years, & shot my first ever 700 series last night, 231+225+246=702.  Used my Zone Classic Red-Pin, pin next to ring finger.

My Zone Classic Red-Pin was in OOB condition.  Found it had too much skid, so yesterday i took it to matte finish, using Ebonite matte finish (1200grit), (would have used rough-buff but not available locally).  What a difference, smooth roll and hard-arc, just destroyed the pocket, pins flying everwhere.  Anywhere near the pocket was a strike.  With my AI, had the occasional 9-pin tap, not with my ZC-RP, it's now my go-to ball.

I don't think that is fair, what if he never took it seriously???  My grandfather, one of the best coaches I know, has bowled for 54 years and never shot a 700.

Thanks everyone.  I haven't used my ZC-RP much at all until that night, just so happened to try it out again & boom 700 series, go figure. House i bowled the 700 at has medium-heavy oil, but very clean backends.  I found that my Zone Classic red-pin hooked just as much as my AI & OI & hits with a hard arc, but with my AI & OI had too much over/under & too speed sensitive.  I'm going to tweak surface of my inferno's now to see if it makes any difference.

Next goals are 300 game, 750/800 series....cheers

Now if i can just figure out the lanes at my other bowling center, that's the big mystery.  This house have light-med. oil, but spotty backends, haven't found which of my balls to use and/or how to play these lanes yet

Isn't it wonderful when people prove to themselves that surface is such a HUGE percentage of a ball's reaction??

Why does it matter if he never got a 700? The Only thing matter does he have fun bowling? That Is All Matter!!

I too found my ZCRP way too strong for light/dry conditions,so I hit it with a green scotch brite.
You just couldnt believe the differencse!!!Much smoother arc now the hit and carry have improved significantly.Same thing as High Revs, now sends messengers everywhere and carries everything!!
Handles med conditions now with ease and on a THS this is first ball out for me......

I'll never forget it..

A guy I know in a local center (sort of a drinker) threw a nice ball on the left side.(always played up 5...whether that the shot or not).

Coach of Yabba...about a 195 average maybe higher.  One night I'm in the center and he throws a 701.  As soon as the ball gets it...he gets down on his knees and cries for a half hour!!  He had been bowling consistently for about 30 years and had never had a 700!

Well I got my first one and then my second on my first year anniversary of bowling left handed!  Hadn't really bowled hardly at all for 30 years maybe 1/2 year.  Somebody handed me a large check shortly after that moment and then a few weeks later some more big checks.

I was at the center 4 to 5 times a week I stayed till I accomplished my objective.
Now...I spend my weeks working and then starting Friday night I watch my kids thru Monday night.
If I bowl I have my kids with me...6 and 3.  I have about 3 hours a week not working or watching kids.  Since those first two 700s I've shot 69X including two 699 about 10 times.  Every time I've needed a strike in the 9th or 10th to make it I've flushed the shot and left a ringing 7 or a 6 pin or an 8 pin!

Most very good shots!

I feel like when I shoot my next 7XX I'm going to kiss the alleys and cry too!

rEgards,

Luckylefty
pS but I know if I had habits and schedule of path...8 is around the corner!
Gotta believe!  ANd regarding schedule of old...within a couple of yearsor sooner...I will!

Proud owner of a 140 first game average this year!  Don't bowl me the second two games though!  (two warm up balls in league..thanks proprietors)
