I can speak for the "re-issued" Fire Quantum. Nice looking ball, clean through the heads, strong move in the back, great HIT! I LIKE MINE! The Fire Quantum and the Classic Zone (or Inferno) covers the entire range from Light-Medium through Medium-Heavy. I prefer it to the Bruiser, only because my Bruiser is kind of strong to fit in my arsenal right now. The polished FQ is a better fit.

I'll ask the same question that I ask of everyone else who posts on these older releases.  Are these the originals, or the remakes?

I wish I had some extra dough.  I already have a Teal Rhino with less than 20 games.  I wouldn't mind adding a Sapphire, that ball was a backend monster.  I guess I may have to sell my Time Zone and Gold Nugget to come up with the money for it.

Yep - it's the same. Remember that Stone-8 that Randy Pedersen left in the 10th frame vs. Schlegel in the 95 TPC - the one that cost him the title and sent Schlegel into Berserko mode? He was throwing a Fire Quantum. Mine hits so darned hard it does the same from time to time. Crushing hit. Don't know if it's the color, or the pearlization, or what it is, but it's one SPECIAL ball.
I also remember watching Petraglia throw his against Bob Learn in the opening match in Erie in '96 when Learn set the PBA scoring record. Petraglia should've won the match. His Fire Quantum was just crushing the pins. He actually threw the ball better than Learn did that day (and so did Parker) - but some days the Bowling Gods just smile on you.

The Sapphire Blue Zone was/is Powerkoil 17, which is a fairly mild reactive. Might have been a backend monster in the late 90's / early 2000's, but I gotta believe on today's oil it would be weaker than you remember. Keeping the Time Zone would be a better choice. Drilled accordingly it's also a "backend monster". I gotta watch how I throw my TZ - it can be too angular if I'm not careful.

Randy, my Time Zone is 3 3/8 x 3 3/8.  It pretty much goes into a dead roll at the 30 ft mark.  It's not flippy for me, just such a strong and hard roll that it sends bone crushing messengers.  For my style Pearls never really give me the most backend, always a polished solid with alot of Differential(Mike Aulby MVP a.k.a Zone Defense, LT-48 Gold a.k.a Danger Zone, and Quantum Raven, all drilled pin over bridge, C.G. in palm, Optyx Formula 1 drilled label) all gave me more backend than any ball I've ever thrown, almost uncontrollable backend. I can confidently say that whenever the 1-3 boards are playable the house doesn't stand a chance with me throwing the Time Zone.

I've got a couple drilled:
First one makes a hockey-stick move.

Second one was drilled for a small controlled hook. Does just that:

First one the pin is 6" from axis. That ball makes it back from anywhere.
