Must have ball of the year!!! Versa-Max
« on: March 10, 2012, 11:58:23 AM »
I have two drilled up! One is pin up and the other and favorite is pin down!!! This ball isn't made for heavy oil, but medium to med/hvy and this ball is money!! The predictable motion with easy length is amazing even with the pin down! After using these two I'm planning on getting a third and they will be the most used balls that I've ever owned! If you don't have a Versa-Max in your bag, you need to get one!! If you have one in your bag, then why just one? Very versatile ball with the ability to play multiple conditions and angles, just don't be aftaid to change the surface!!! Just my $.02, Bruce

I agree, Bruce. This ball is "sneaky good."  It just hits and carries. Mine is pin down and gets EASY length with a strong arc back to the pins.

Funny.  Staffers commenting on other staffers as well as 'must have' ball or 'money'.  I never see any staffers give a negative review on a ball.  I would think they would have to be honest but the best way around that is 'made surface adjustments' and all of a sudden its great!  I understand having to promote your companies equipment but please, be real.

The only time staffers give an honest, unbias review of a ball is when a new ball comes out that replaces an old ball. So when the Versa-Max 2 comes out, then and only then will we get the limitations of the current Versa Max.

"Gentlemen,"

If you don't like the reviews then don't buy the ball.  Stick to your Track forum, or other forums if you can't add anything constructive to the conversation.  If I were bowling against you I'd prefer you didn't throw a Brunswick ball.

I was simply agreeing with Bruce's comments. Nothing else.

If you only knew how often I get PMs regarding the latest Storm, Roto, or other balls you might know that I am quite complimentary towards much of the equipment out there.  I do, however, have the self control to stay away from their forums unless I have something nice or constructive to add.  Have a nice day.

Track Fanatic & Northface,

Once again I read some of your recent posts regarding your new ball(s).  Sounds like you have very little negative to say about your recent equipment. Does that mean you are not honest?  Does it mean you bowl primarily on house shots where nearly anything looks good?  I tend to think the latter.

If you use a ball where it's intended to be used there is a reasonable expectation that you will like what you see - unless you throw it horribly, which NEVER happens by anyone who posts here...

I am really looking forward to getting my hands on this beast. I like what I have seen from this ball from some of the really good bowlers in my area. Unfortunately they are back ordered so i wont see one for at least two weeks. But in the mean time I will gladly roll my Alpha Max and my C300 Bedlam.

Sorry to wreck your erection over the Versa-Max, Brunswick finally releases a few balls worth a damn and you lose your mind. Practice what you preach, you brought nothing constructive to the table yourself. Instead, you questioned our skill level, what we bowl on, and our ability to be objective (which you lack until the latest Brunswick ball drops when youll be honest about its predecessor). So have a nice day, Squirt.

I haven't posted anything on the Nexxus yet, cause it's not my favorite and I need to use it on something other than the typical houseshot!!! It was ok the first time I used it, but I think the Versa-Max is more user friendly!! A guy I bowl with uses Roto/Storm and he said he'd like to have one after I let him use it! I always change the surface on the ball no matter what it is, and it's because I want something that easy to duplicate! I have the pin down with 2000 abralon and the pin up at 4000 abralon and then I went over it with the white scotchbrite pad. I'm a senior bowler and had 9 weeks off for surgery recovery and second week back I drill a new ball and shoot back to back 279, 269. Say what you want, I'll take that any week!!! This is a Brunswick forum and if you don't like Brunswick, why are you here? Just my $.02, Bruce

Why am I here? Perhaps because its a public forum, not owned by you or your Brunswick cohorts? Just a guess,I never said I didnt like Brunswick. I used Bwick in college and for many seasons post college. Its just funny when Bruswick makes something that doesnt hooks at the dots and its suddenly the ”greatest ball ever”. Theres a reason Lindenwood/Wichita guys, for the most part, cant wait to stop throwing that stuff. They make some good stuff, dont get me wrong, but some of you guys are over the top.

So what if a few of our guys get really excited over their new equipment? They aren't harming you, and if it really bothers you, then you should take a deep breath and listen to a Nature Sounds CD. Works like a charm...

P.S. - the ball really is that good, just sayin.

i reviewed this ball a couple weeks ago. i've got 10-12 more games on it bowling on kegel abbey road, modified house shot, & a 42' house shot. i'm tellin' you people, it' been a while since i've loved a ball motion as much as this one. super clean thru the fronts, with a harc continuous arc. being rev dominant is why i like it the most. it doesn't freak out as soon as it hits the dry, but it's not a slow response either. it's a medium response with great continuation. i'm so confident with this piece, i just drilled up 2 more!(yes i have 3. layed out differently of course)

i will review those once i get some games on them. in my kegel league, this ball has been getting some attention & a few guys already bought one for themselves. (this ball will cover 75% of the conditions you will see)

bowlers, buy what you like, but pay attention to this piece. no need to argue, it's a forum for bowling education.

good luck! score well.

northface28,

I didn't question your skill level. What I was suggesting is that most balls look good on the house shots that most of us see most of the time. Is that clear enough?  What do you want us to say when we like the ball?

Every so often I have a ball that is not a good match up for me.  It's not the end of the world then, nor is it if I like the ball.  It's a bowling ball. If we like it, great.  If you don't like our comments, well sorry.  I have read many of your posts on the site, and we probably agree on more than we would disagree on.

On another subject, is that really you in the picture? You're sooooo cute!  Have a nice day.

Signed,
"Squirt"

I like it when people actually use their real name and not hide behind a computer screen before picking a fight on a forum

If you want to read some negative reviews by a staffer look at what I had to say about the Hell Raiser, Alpha Max and Loaded Revolver. Some balls just don't do exactly what you were expecting, you pick the wrong layouts or you just don't see the shape that your eyes like to see.  It doesn't mean that the ball is crap and there is always somebody wanting to see that motion on the lane, just means that the ball isn't for me.

"The Brunswick balls hooking at the dots" statement almost made me laugh out loud. I've used MANY Brunswick balls over the years and haven't had this problem. Even the high load particle balls like the Mammoth and Goliath didn't hook this early........provided they're used on the proper condition. Perhaps the person actually throwing the ball does matter.........
