Just got back from the middle east about 3 weeks ago. First night back to league, we get to talking equipment. I mention that I would like to try a Rattler. The next night, a buddy gives his 15lb Rattler since he switched to 14lb.
Plugged it up cause I didn''t like the layout. I decided to go 4 1/2 by 3 1/2 pin up. I like this layout on a couple of OIs I had. Considering this ball is very similar, I figured it would work well. I bowled the first night of league with the ball at 1000g.
My initial impression was ho-hum. Not a spectacular ball, but not a bad ball. Just a rolly, hard arc typical Brunswick activator coverstock reaction. At 1000g, I was deeper than I had been on our pattern in quite some time. Although, I''ve been throwing mainly 4000g or shiny stuff.
The center changed up the shot and added some oil to the middle of the lane. I was able to switch to the Rattler once my Rampage started to overhook from the edge. The Rampage just wasn''t enough ball to turn the corner playing in the oil, but the Rattler was a good choice. I was the only one on the pair able to move inside to and bump the track. Nearly everyone else on the pair was struggling with over reaction in the dry and under-reaction in the oil.
Overall, a pleasing ball reaction with consitent and predictable ball motion. I think she is a keeper. Now, what to drill to compliment it? Siege? Python?
