My Fury is almost solid black
« on: October 09, 2007, 02:07:58 AM »
Hi. Just picked up a Fury off ebay. The ball is almost all solid black. Just traces of red, blue. Will this affect the action of the ball any? I read a forum thread sometime in the past about colors affecting a balls reaction. The Furys I have seen at the alleys seem to be mostly dark blue. Thanks.

NIB or used? If it's used, it's probably the oil in the ball.. Clean it out and it should be fine.

The belief that color affects ball reaction affects ball reaction more than the color does.  If you believe that because the ball is mostly black, it will suffer diminished performance, you'll never be happy with it.  Any problem can be explained by the fact that it's the wrong color.

Don't be a ball racist.

You might, if you try hard, convince me that color affects hybrid balls.  When the red is solid and the yellow pearl, then a mostly-yellow ball might have a slightly different reaction than a mostly red ball.  Maybe.  But not on a house wall and not if you can't hit a 1-board-wide mark more than twice in a game.

Mine's pretty dark too, and it works wonderfully . .  I don't have any red or blue in mine at all.  It's a freakin beast, just a ridiculously good ball, and I'm not really a ball disciple.  Color affects reaction, but it's extremely subtle, and in this case, it won't matter at all.

Thanks for the info on the color thing. I was just curious as I hadn't seen one that dark.

Only way you can see the color in mine is to put it under a very bright light, then you can see patches/streaks of blue and red, but only faintly.

"Don't think I would ever buy from a shop that didn't offer balls from every manufacturer"

And that's fine by us, but you wouldn't go to the Buick store and expect to find Kia, nor the GMC store and find Hyundai.  We choose to offer our customers only the finest products, those that support American workers, and (like I said) we average over 3000 balls per season, so I guess there are many bowlers that support our ideals.  The fact that some don't, speaks for itself.
