Rampage vs Swarm
« on: June 18, 2008, 01:11:55 AM »
Just saw the post on the Swarm 85Xs.  Awesome.

My question....

How much can these two balls differ.  Pearlized Powerkoil 18 and core specs which are very similar.

Not trying to be difficult but I have seen wonderful results when other bowlers throw the Rampage.(I don't have one).

I note the different core shape.

Comments from the Brunswick gurus?

My opinion is that the Swarm is a teeny bit longer, and more angular.

I found the Rampage to be earlier than I would have liked, if the Swarm is anything like a Cherry C/2 Pearl Saw i think 3 should be just about right for me.

I believe the straight pearl is a huge difference for what I am looking for reaction wise.

Just to clear things up, the red on the Rampage is solid and the gold is pearl. The ball was released before the term "hybrid" was widely used in the industry so Brunswick did not label it as such, even though it is.

Yes, K_Dawg.

There was a post about the Swarm and the Copperhead in which )I think it was BrunsRico, but not sure) corroborated that the Rampage, and the Bruiser were combos: solid + pearl.

last night i saw the swarm for the first time in action. and from what ive noticed, there doesnt seem to be a whole lot of torque behind the core of the swarm. the rampage and swarm are both very responsive to dry and both really angular, but from what i saw, the swarm didnt hit as hard as a rampage. but this is just my observation.
