So I had gotten a used Columbia Rival off of ebay for 30 bucks. It was plugged and resurfaced. I had it drilled up for me, but when my driller drilled the thumb it was half in the ball and half in the plug. The plug had started to separate inside the ball and was cumbersome to throw w/o a thumb slug. I told my driller yesterday to go ahead and drop a slug in there. When he did, he hit the edge of that plug that was in the ball when I got it. The ball proceeded to break the suction it had on the machine and bounced all over the place. It looked like someone took a chisel after the thumb hole...lol! I was bummed, but my driller said he'd fix it for me.
So I went to the lane today at lunch to throw a few and he's like I got your ball. I was like huh? He reached behind the counter and brought out a Wild Thing already drilled and all for me. I had been eyeing the ball anyhow since it had been on sale. He drilled it how the rival was drilled. Pin up centered and CG kicked right about an inch or two. And WOW...what a smooth roll! No matter what part of the lane I threw it on, it rolled exactly the same way every time as long as my release was consistent. Might take the surface a little rougher than OOB to get a little more decisive turn, but will roll with how it is for now. Let the OOB finish wear in a little.
Paid 30 for the rival and 25 for the drill. So got a Wild Thing drilled for 55 NIB!
