need 12 # ball, good hit, small hook, good roll for THS
« on: October 04, 2006, 03:01:11 AM »
Nation,

My left hip is giving me some problems, have started rehab to build it up.  Most of my balls are quantums, very strong and hook hard.  My ball speed is low so balls hook a lot which force to to play deeper than I am comfortable with. I would like to find a ball and drilling which will allow me to play within my envelope  Good roll with a small hook.  Any and all suggestions appreciated.

Thanks,  Dr "C"

Well, from what I have seen, you might want to look at one of the SCOUT REACTIVES. My wife has one and she loves it. She does not throw a big hook, basically she goes up the 3rd arrow and into the pocket. It is a nice ball and rolls nice for her. Also the price is not that bad at all. Usually under 100 bucks. But check one out.

BOWLING IS FUN NO MATTER WHAT YOU SCORE. BUT A 300 IS ALWAYS NICE.

STRIKE ZONE & PYRO. STAND 15 AND THROW 10 OUT TO 5 AND SMASH THE POCKET. AT LEAST THAT IS THE PLAN OF THE NIGHT...

Definitely check into the Groove Reactive line, paying close mind to the Dry/R. Slower balls speeds will really benefit from this ball.

I'd also suggest a Power Groove as 1st choice - either the Dry/R (it has a really mild coverstock, but the DISC core/flip blocks create a good amount of hook) or the "normal" PK 17 pearl reactives, which are quite strong. Drilling suggateions are hard to make, since you do not provide a PAP. But from Brunswick's standard layouts, a normal PG with drilling 4E offers very good control on lighter conditions, while you can drill the Dry/R stronger since it goes longer and reacts smoother at the breakpoint.

The Rampage and Punisher from mthe BVP line are also good balls, but I guess the step back from the Quantums might not be big enough to have a true arsenal addition.
