Need a two word answer here.
« on: April 29, 2005, 07:32:34 AM »
On the rico, pin to axis distance is what? On the diagram, it doesn't say unless I'm mistaken. Pin to X-hole is 6 3/4 though, is that the same with the Pin to PAP?

Pin in palm.  That's it.  Which means whatever distance that is to YOUR pap.  But it's just pin in palm.

Usually 4 1/2" - 5 1/2" for most with the pin in the center of grip.

would a high tracker (my track is about 1/2 inch from fingers and thumb) need the pin above the fingers, or wouldn't that be Rico anymore?

That wouldn't be rico....Rico1 is putting the pin in palm (and the weighthole part).

Rico does not mean just pin in palm. It means pin on the grip horizontal centerline. For example - if you have a very long PAP distance, you can move the pin closer to the PAP ON THE HORIZONTAL MIDLINE to compensate. If you want a later rolling reaction, you can put it farther from the PAP on the HORIZONTAL MIDLINE.

With the pin under the fingers cause the ball to flare over the thumb, though? And is this what you mean by what you said:

          0 0

-------p----p---p----PAP-----

           0

p=pin. you mean moving along the horizontal midline?  the middle p is supposed to be in the center of the palm, btw.

Pin under causes the ball to flare over the middle finger not the thumb.
As the ball migrates the track goes toward the fingers and away from the thumb.

The only way a ball can flare over the thumb is if the release track is on the positive side of the thumb or if it is drilled full roller style which inverts the track migration direction.
The release track is the oil line closest to the thumb and farthest from the fingers and it migrates away from the thumb unless one of the occurances above is present.

Actually I was thinking that the ball flares over the thumb hole instead of the finger holes when you have a high track and use a pin under the bridge drilling. Where could i put the pin in order to be safe from flaring over the finger holes?

Haha, too funny.  We've switched spots.  Now I'm the one simplifying things and you're using the (truly) correct technical info.  I was just telling him that because he was asking if it was "rico" if he put the pin over his ring finger.

As Ric said the low balance hole position will raise the bowtie of the flare so you may be safe. I would stay away from the leverage position (3 3/8) though to reduce flare and be a bit safer. You can always adjust the cover to get the desired length if the weaker pin position isn't correct for the condition. I prefer weaker pin positions though.
