This is my first post here so if I forget to mention any important detail I apologize...

I'm a left handed bowler, medium to low speed with low revs who likes to play outside, usually between the 4 board and the 8 board (that is my confort zone) in the typical THS. I like a ball with a good length, that can have a good read of the front and the mid lane and with  a good backend reaction with a strong hook at the end, kind of like a hockey stick shot with a delayed/late hook.

I'm looking for a ball that can be my first out of the bag option, currently I have a Brunswick Wicked Siege which is losing its power (I've been using it 3 times a week for 3 years) a Brunswick Aura which is too strong for the house conditions, a DV8 Ruckus which right know is my first ball and a Visionary G-3 Gryphon which I use when the lanes break down, but sometimes even that ball overreacts when there is no more oil left on the lane.

I'm between the Motiv Tribal Fire (right know I'm leaning towards that one) the Motiv Tribal, the Brunswick Brute and the DV8. I want a ball that I can use on a fresh lane with medium oil and that can also help me when the lanes are dry. I want the ball to have a good lenght and a strong backend reaction, I'm reading the Dual Angle Ball Layout and I have an idea of how to drill it, long skid, medium to high flares, no early hook and good and strong backend reaction. What ball should I buy?

ANY HELP WOULD BE TRULY APPRECIATED!

You actually sound like you're looking for something more along the lines of the Melee Jab, which is a strong symmetrical pearl that will give you good length and backend on fresher conditions, without overreacting too much. While the Brute is one of my favorites, I prefer it when there is a little bit more friction as the lanes break down, especially if you plan on using a skid-flip type layout. The Melee Jab will better suit you for something a little more versatile and cover a wider variety of patterns. If you don't want to wait for the 12/1 release date for the Jab, you could look at the Yeti Uncaged from Radical as well. Another strong symmetrical pearl that is very versatile.

You know what? When I went to my local pro shop and asked this very same question to the guy who works there he also recommended me the Melee Jab from Brunswick! He also told me about the Salute from Ebonite. But he told me that probably the Jab would suit me best because he also knows how I bowl and how I release the ball... So, what would you say is the biggest difference between the Jab and the Fire? (The fire was the 3rd ball he recommended me) he told me to forget about the tribal and the brute...

Thanks for your help man! i really appreciate it!

I agree melee jab should have more punch on the backend than the hooligan does. Diva pearl is a great choice as well. Tribal fire is no joke either. Its a pretty strong piece, probably the strongest overall of the bunch you are looking at.

Melee Jab or Diva Pearl would be my choices though

Good luck!

The Tribal Fire is more comparable to the Brute, as both are INTENDED for lighter to medium oil. And again, with balls INTENDED for light to medium, you're more likely to run into problems with over-under on fresh oil, especially considering you play straighter angles. And if your pro shop guy thinks the Brute won't fit, I'm surprised he doesn't feel the same way about the Fire. But considering he still thought the best choice was the Jab and he knows your game, then in my opinion, it's a no brainer to go with the Jab. :)

Yes, I'm looking for something that can be my first ball out of the bag on THS, with good length and strong backend reaction on fresher conditions, but that I can also use it when the lanes start to break down, thats why I thought about a light to medium ball, but I'm not sure if I'm right or if I'm wrong. I thought that the light to medium are more versatile because as the name says, is for medium AND light, right? and the medium are supposed to only work on medium condition and when the lanes break down you need to go with something for light oil, right? Tell me if I'm wrong because I'm not sure...

The guy from the pro shop told me that the Brute might be a little weak ball for me. Can you explain to me about the difference in a light to medium oil ball and a medium ball? Can I use a medium ball on a light oil condition? Can I use a light to medium ball in medium, fresh oil condition?

I was pretty sure of going with the Fire, but right know that Melee Jab is making me think about it again... That Melee sound pretty versatile from what I have read and from your comments!

Melee Jab sounds pretty good from what I read here and on the other review sites. Thanks so much! Though is gonna be hard to wait for another 10 days or so!

I compared the Brunswick Wicked Siege (I have that ball since 2011 and I still use it) with the Melee Jab and from what I read they are pretty much the same right?

The Melee Jab would be a great choice.  The Brute and some of the other balls would probably be a little longer on the fresh than what your looking for. The new Score from Radical would be a good choice if you want to stick with an asymmetrical like your wicked siege or ruckus.

So would I be able to use the Jab as my first ball on THS and still use it when the lanes break down? Because usually the Wicked Siege goes faaaar to the right by the middle of the second game even if I move to the right 3 or 4 boards... Does the Jab works well on a drier lane?

The Jab should work well on the fresh condition and still be playable on the breakdown as long as you move far enough in with it as the lanes start to dry out.  There isn't a ball out there that you can play exactly the same on the fresh as on the breakdown.   This is why they have other choices like the Brute for when the lanes start to get drier and you want to get back to the area you started in.  There isn't a ball to start up soon enough to make the pocket on the fresh condition but also go long enough to stay in the same spot and play them the same through the transition.   Such a ball would have to defy the laws of physics and that is why companies make a variety of balls.  If you want to do that you would need 2 balls not one.

I know that I can't use the same ball standing in the same spot for 3 games without doing any adjust on my game, but I'm looking for a ball that can be able to be on the game for more than 1 or 2 games, I know that I need to move forward or backward, left or right, etc... But for example, I have an Aura Paranormal which is a very strong ball and that ball dries the lanes after 1 game! It is intended for medium to heavy oil and I need to replace it after the first game, even if I move 10 boards the ball would not respond as I want to once the lanes broke down, that's why I was asking about a ball that can be used with the proper adjustments through the games. The Jab can do that from what I understood in your comments, right?

Yes I believe it can. It looks to be a very versatile ball and I am very excited about it.  I am looking forward to testing mine first of the week when they come in.

Great! I'm excited too! I'm leaning towards the Melee Jab after all the good comments about it, I hope it will suit me well! Please post your review as soon as you can.

Thanks for all your help!

I will try and get it up as soon as I can throw them a little bit.  It seems to display some Versamax like qualities in the video.   That kinda shape and the really good looking Purple color should make this one a real winner!
