Need help with my Fury
« on: March 26, 2008, 03:31:07 PM »
Can someone please help me on this one?
My Fury (solid) was about dead, so I gave it a bath to
get the oil out, which alot came out. Then went to my
pro shop and sanded to 1000 ab. then put some rough buff
on it. I went to throw this ball and it is still dead.
My vapor zone hooked more. This ball used to be a beast.
Am I doing something wrong? Please let me know what any
of you would do to get this thing back to life. Or should
I just get rid of it.

Thanks, Dave

not throwing it on enough oil.

bath = good idea.
did you have 1000 ab plus rough buff on it before?
if so, cool... if not, try 800 wetordry (factory box).

if you use grips.... the bath got out a bunch of oil (this usually requires many games of use...), have you considered new grips to go with the surface work?

You may have to go the rejuvinator or Ebonite Hook Again route.  Sometimes the bath is not enough if the ball is super oil soaked.

I agree with lsf_21....if you just drained the ball and had a fresh surface put on it and your Vapor Zone is outhooking it, then I would say you aren't seeing enough oil to use the Fury and its burning up.

yea im certain that what was happening with mine, to much hand for the lane condition out there, b/c somebody else that had much less hand out hooked me with the same exact ball. and the vapor zone isn't suppose to be a heavy oil ball its more of medium so if its hooking probably not enough oil.

I don't think a bath gets enough oil out. We've seen them "bleed" in our Revivor for over 4 hours routinely.

The other problem may be that 1000 then rough buff is pretty shiny on this one. I've had 2 Furys and the one that I put rough buff on played the lanes like a pearl reactive.  It was great, but I needed to play much straighter up the edge.  Try 220 or 320 then rough buff, or 1000 - 2000 abralon without rough buff for heavier oil conditions. Let me know if you need anything else.
