Ultra Zone vs. Smash Zone

The Smash Zone utilizes an updated Inferno-like core and pearlized enMotion coverstock.  The Ultra Zone uses an updated Phantom-like core and a Hybrid enMotion coverstock.  Which of them provides a better marketing campaign?  In the past, the Infernos have led the way with coverstock changes and the Zones have inherited coverstocks a few months down the road.  This time, it's a little bass ackwards albeit with proven a coverstock.  Will the Smash Zone turn out to be one of the year's best releases?  In doing so, has Big B rendered my NIB Ultra Zone, all but, obsolete?  Anyone wanna trade a Smash Zone for an Ultra Zone?...lol.  The answers these and many more questions, up next!

Since the EnMotion cover is on the Furys and the ZOne already, I'll bet most people won't look twice at the Smash Zone. I'll bet it remains a hidden, overlooked gem.

Brunswick seems to be following Ebonite and Storm on the route that killed Columbia: too many overlapping balls, far too many!

charlest, that is, indeed, another way to look at the lineup.  Still another would be to continue in the hope that this might be the "next, latest & greatest Inferno".  Big B has pigeonholed themselves with the success of the Inferno lineup and may forever have to compare their introductions to the Mother-ship to get some of their past customers to give the new pills a shot.  IMHO, the new products stand very well on their own merits.  The re-introduction, or mixing & matching, of proven cores & coverstocks, does tend to overlap.  However, with so many ball whores out there eager to put the latest pill in their bag for all to see, they've struck marketing gold!

I understand where you're coming from I just think all that subterfuge is necessary.

As far as the Ultra Zone is concerned, the mass bias strength of the Phantom core is a major concern to my way of thinking. It is too high (.024"), as it enforces a ball reaction and breakpoint angle that is very difficult to change. It is only good for very high ball speed bowlers. That is a problem for all such cores. TO my way of thinking, this creates more problems than it solves.

Well that maybe true but I love my Ultra Zones. I have one drilled pin up 5 x 4 and one drilled Rico and I can cover almost every condition I face except the extremes (oily and dry condition). The Twisted Fury was condition specific for me but the Ultra Zone is a deceptively powerful and predictable ball and is a big hit in my area.

I had been buying Lanemasters balls for my arsenal but I have not had this much confidence in a Brunswick ball since AI came out and I will be taking a look at current and future Brunswick releases now.
