New 3-ball arsenal
« on: June 21, 2015, 12:54:09 AM »
I'm dropping down to 14lbs and about to order up a new 3-ball arsenal. I'm 90% sure I'm going with a Melee Jab, Melee Cross, and OG Melee. I had the OG in 15 and was one of the few who seems to love that ball on THS. Polished up it works great for me for light to medium and spares. A great down and in ball. The Cross seems good for the fresh shot and then the Jab for when I want to open up the lanes and the shot is breaking down.

Sound right? I know the core works very well for me. Am I overlooking another gem? I loved the Vintage LT-48 and part of me wants to swap out the OG Melee for it.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

I love the Melee Jab and Cross. Both have been versatile and everything I could ask for from a ball.  My original Melee was drilled very tame (about 2.5" from PAP) so I could play much straighter through the front and still control the back ends.

My LT-48 was stronger than the original Melee by a couple boards.  I hope this helps you with your decision.

That was my exact experience with the Melee and LT-48. I loved both balls, but can only afford one now that I'm dropping down. In the end I found the Melee more versatile precisely because it was less on the backend.

I haven't seriously considered any of the other balls that Brunswick has right now or Radical or DV8. The Jab gets such good reviews and my affection for the Cross comes from a combination of knowing the core will work me and the old school look (I was sad to sell my Teal Rhino Pro this week).

Don't wait too much longer on the OG Melee as many places have them on closeout.

Thanks. I see Buddie's has them for cheap. And they are selling the Cross for around $85.

Buddies sometimes has really good deals on their closeouts. I bought a Ruckus Schizo a couple weeks ago for $80 (ball was 150 when first released).

They have the Melee for $70 right now, the Cross for $90, and the Jab for $130. Great deals.

Any thoughts on how these would compare to the soul and soul mate?

If you like and have the OG melee - keep it.

As far as the Souls - I do not know how the OG Melee would fit in. My teammate stated that his Soul was stronger then the OG, but the Soul Mate comparison I would not be able to predict.
