ball for medium to med. light....
« on: June 26, 2007, 05:46:49 PM »
hey all. im about to jump on the big b train, but i need some advice on ball choice. i want a ball that can cover a low end med. heavy to med dry.

i am attending a 2 day clinic at a local house. when you sign up, they give you your choice of any of the last infernos(smokin, radical, scorchin, etc.), the total, or a fury.

so, my question is, should i go with proven technology and get a radical(pretty colors ) or try the all new pearl fury?

ps-the clinic is in august, so the pearl fury should be in...but when is the release date?

Irf you start with Brunswick, stay away from the Radical. It is not a bad ball, but itchy and might need much fine-tuning to work properly. Beware. I do not know any player around who was truly happy with it, no wonder it did not enjoy a long life.

The ball you'd IMHO be looking for is either the Rampage as a cheap solution, or give the Smokin' Inferno a try.

If you can wait, check out the new Avalanches, they'd fit your bill, too.

I'd agree, in general, with dizzy, about the Rampage. But it's not a cheap solution, but THE solution for medium to medium-light, depending on your ball speed/rev rate ratio.

I have had a lot of success with the BVP rampage on light oil to medium.  It is one of the best balls for this oil condition.

"Relatively cheap" - compared to a NIB Inferno series ball that might prove to be "too much" for the job at hand

how would you guys compare the Rampage to the Smokin Inferno?

FOR ME, the Smoking needed medium oil as a minimum and it hooks a lot more than the Rampage, which handles medium-light to medium oil. Maybe I drilled mine too strong? Infernos generally do hook a lot.

Go with the RAMPAGE or wait for the new BVP line to come out... But the RAMPAGE is an excellent ball for what you are looking for...

The Rampage is a good choice for med-med light. I also have a Radical and get a really good reaction on medium conditions, not sure why there are so many horror stories with this ball but I like mine.
