Title: New ball

First time bowler wants a ball that has some hook to it. She has a ball that goes straight down the lane right now. She wants to up-grade. Any suggestions. Thanks

Avalanche, Avalanche Pearl, or any of the reactive Power Grooves.

She proabably has a weak wrist, so a ball with some surface would proabably work for her

Please explain what would bring you to such a generalization..

Spider Ball has it spot on.. Those are great recommendations for Brunswick. Any entry level reactive would most likely be fine.

Avalanche solid would be a good choice. If she goes to a ball that's too weak she may develop some bad habits by trying to "make it hook" while she learns the proper release, etc.

For that reason I also think that a stronger ball works well. She'll probably keep it relatively tame while she learns the release, and as she does learn, the ball can respond with the "more hook" she'll inevitably want at that stage. Stay with symmetrical core balls as they will be more forgiving until she becomes more consistent, too.

Thank you all for your insight on this subject. I would hate to buy something that would be to much for her. I will give this ball a try and let you all know how things worked out. Any drilling suggestions ?

Take an Avalanche Solid and drill it label and call it a day.  Keep it simple to start with and work up from there.
