Title: New ball to the Arsenal
Post by: Jaleel121 on December 03, 2015, 04:48:32 PM
This is what I currently have:
Mastermind (500 grit, heavy rolling beast)
Cold Blood (OOB w/polish, same layout as Mastermind)
Ruckus (OOB, drilled for length)
Karma Urethane (mainly for spares)

I'm looking to add a weaker symmetrical to my Arsenal to fill the gap between the Ruckus and Karma. Something that can handle some carry down and drier lanes. What I have in mind is something along the lines of a DV8 Misfit or the black/blue solid Karma. I can get either for around $60.

Would either of these be a good fit? How would they compare? Something else? I'm open to suggestions.

I think you have the right idea with Misfit.  Another option you could take a look at within any of the Brunswick lines would be the Radical Rack Attack Pearl or Solid.  The Rack Attack Pearl will be the weaker of the two but still works well on lighter volume with longer length/decent flip in the back.

The symmetrical core is about the weakest that Radical currently has with numbers at 2.542 RG/0.024 Diff.  It's a basic light bulb style core but those have been proven over time to work really well on what you're describing.

I will give my input on the Rack Attack solid: best ball for the money spent in a long time. Very predictable, nothing flashy, but it does what it was intended to do. It takes to surface change well, so you can tweak it to your needs.
I am low rev, speed dominant and pearl balls have a tendency to skid too much for me.

I would agree that the Rack Attack solid would be a good choice. If it is hooking too much with OOB, you can add royal compound or polish to get a little more length. Another option would be the DV8 Deviant which would be a little stronger than the Rack Attack.

Or, the black/blue karma would be a good choice too and would have a similar reaction to the Rack Attack solid. The Misfit would have a little stronger snap on the back part of the lane compared to the black/blue karma

The Rack Attack Solid for the reasons others have mentioned.  It should be smooth, predictable and fill the gap perfectly.

I can't speak for the Rack Attack Solid but the lightbulb core is proven in many balls over the years.

I'll definitely give the Rack Attack a look. A solid symmetrical like that sounds like it'll work just fine. Another thing on the Misfit: the one I found was the old green/white version. I heard that it was the strongest of the original 3? Also that they were much stronger than advertised?

Edit: Ok, so the pearl Rack Attack has caught my eye. Anyone had any experience with this one?

Rack Attach Solid for sure.  Just drilled one for the exact spot you are trying to fill.  We did a 2 inch pin to pap and rolls great for that spot in the bag.
