Need to replace my Depth Charge with a B Ball
« on: April 16, 2005, 07:19:09 PM »
Ok, to make my offical "member of the Naction" complete, I need to replace my Depth Charge with a Big B ball. Looking for a particle pearl that will give me a similar reaction as my Depth (considering drilling/pin/top are very close if not the same). Which ball would work best? Dont know of any current balls that fit the bill, is there an older ball (no Fuzes) that would work, or is something on its way this summer that I can use instead? Thinking maybe Impulze Zone with a bit of shine but need opinions. Let me here them!

Impulse with shine would roll pretty good IMO.

No it won't. I know as I had a Depth Charge before selling it because of dropping in weight from 15# to 14# and I currently have the Impulse Zone and they are two complete different balls.

Probably either the Warp Zone or the Raging Inferno. Both are slightly higher RG and slightly lower diff on the Raging, so you could use a lower RG layout, same with the Impulse Zone. The cover is close, the RG is higher so it will get down the lane easier. You will more than likely need to alter the layout and the surface to match up.

The Depth Charge is a lighter load particle pearl though. I'm not sure how 2 solid particles are the solution.

I had a Warp Zone previously and I didnt like the reaction I got from it (ducking while everybody throws chairs at me). I have considered an Impulze to round it out, what would be a good drilling pattern for it. Here is the Depth Charge info:

15lbs
4"pin
had 3.3 top.
Drilled 3 3/8 x 5 with weight hole near PAP pitched out slightly.
My track/info in profile.
Surface is currently at 1200 wet sand.

I love the reaction I can get from this ball for it is versatile to my game (hard up the boards of inside with hand and inbetween). With the info given, how could/should an Impulze be drilled? Thinking a shorter pin (2-2 1/2") and going more 4 x 5 or possibly 5 x 4 to still get similar reaction. Any more thoughts? Thanks to all so far...viva la nacion!
