I just bought an absolute Inferno thinking I could walk right out and throw a hook like you see on TV, well was that a rude awaking.
I am 34 and have about a 175 average and have always threw a straight ball. I have it drill for my full fingers. I bowl rather hard, not that I try to but when my ball hits the pins they fly.
I have only bowl 2 games wirh it and I felt stupid. Here I come walking up with two balls looking like I should be able to bowl and get this I got a 74 and 82. Go ahead and laugh, after I left a few hours later I was laughing too.
So after all this can ANYONE help me determine how to throw a hook? Did I buy an ok ball? What am I doing wrong?
Thanks

I did have the AI drilled fingertip

Well when i first learned to hook the ball i did this.
I started off just coming straight off the ball, to get used to the finger grips. I stayed flat behind it. Next just GRADUALY start keeping the ball behind you still, and keep turing yout wrist more and more, until your thumb is pointing to the ceiling (or close to it anyways), or it looks like you're shaking hands with someone...
Just my .02 cents ?

You bought a great ball.
Did you take time to talk to the Pro shop guy (driller) and tell them that you were looking to learn to throw a hook? That would be the first thing that I would suggest. If he was unaware of your intentions and was under the assumption that you were going to throw it straight as you have been he may very well of just copied what was on your other ball. This elimates the advantage of having a high end ball.
My advice is to go and ask the driller if he might be able to take the time to show you the basics of throw a hook shot. It is definately not something that happens right away and will take time to get good at it.
As with any change you make in this sport expect to see your average go down before you see the fruits of your labor.
Hope this helps and Bowl Great!
